Some basic questions from a new player on the server

Discussion in 'Community Discussion' started by Fred_TWK, Mar 29, 2021.

  1. - I'd like to build something nice above ground, meaning that most of my crops/storage will be underground. Removing all the dirt will yeald about 70 dc of dirt. Is there anyone buying it, or should I "simply" let it despawn? (I ain't keeping all that dirt)
    - I have seen non-supporters that have part of their buildings 1 block outside the 60x60 area (i.e. 1 block out on the road. Is that available to everyone starting at a given height, is it a bug/glitch, or is an old thing not available anymore?
    - I am on SMP8. Are there farms (gold/iron/witch/else...) available to everyone, or should I start planning something on the frontier?
    - Elytra. I would like to find one myself, but so far the end cities I visited that had a ship where either completely looted, or the elytra (and the 3 ship shulkers) was literally the only thing missing. Should I give up as new player and resign to buy one? Or is it possible for a non-winged player to get one in a normal way?

    Thank you :)

  2. 1. I believe waffle is buying dirt, perhaps ask when they're online. Though it won't be for very much.

    2. You may be referring to a Road Edit, in which the Senior Staff will edit all or part of a road into the design of your desire.

Scroll down to the Public Works section and you'll find a list of some of the common mob farms and such. As for specifically gold, I know that there is a floating public gold farm called the Jolly Rodger..I believe in the smp7 wild. There is also a public gold farm built by Schlaf82 in the smp8 wild. Ask around for those locations

    4. In all honesty, you will have a very hard time trying to navigate the End using blocks and ender pearls. Would highly recommend simply saving up for an elytra and purchasing one, because you will otherwise waste loads of time that you could be spending elsewhere

  3. 1. thank, I'll contact them :)

    2. no no, a platform some hundred blocks up (see 16530)

    3. thanks! :)

    4. but I enjoy putting in the work for it, I don't mind the time, but is a bit disappointing to come upon a city that looks intact only to discover that the Elytra is the only thing missing.

  4. You are able to build 2 blocks outside of your res (any smp and also utopia) at height (Y) 129 and upwards. :)

  5. Welcome to the Empire! :D
I forgot about the possibility of building a bit out above the road, that's cool. :)
  6. I do indeed; PM me here to arrange something. I typically buy at 1r per stack. :)

Alternatively, you can also buy a DDTT from a player (or from shopworld but it's rather expensive there). It costs quite a bit for a new player, but all of the dirt just goes "poof"; no manual digging required.

  7. oh, that's nice to know, thank you! :D

  8. As for the dirt, I believe that FadedMartian is collecting dirt for a .... community project.
There are players who need dirt sometimes.

As Drasleona mentioned, there are public works. The best smp7 gold farm is near the end of the walk located at /Wild East --> head north. There are mob farms/collection areas for nearly all the mobs there.
Similar area is on smp8 and is known as the PWU - there is a hub for getting to all of the mob farms there, including a witch farm and nether rail to travel it all.

There is a link for that wonderful shop/farm/resource directory in my signature :)
    And welcome to the empire!

  10. Normally when I go End hunting I have to fly out 15-20k blocks in order to find an unlooted End city. While you may find some closer that haven't been hit, the chances of finding an unlooted ship are pretty slim.

I'd be happy to lend you one of my elytras until you can go find your own--just send me a private message if you see me online

  12. It's been three months so we should be due for another /waste reset soon. Elytra are fairly easy to find in a fresh /waste end.

  13. when is the next reset?
  14. #soon

Aka next week to August range
  15. I never use elytra (I am a bad flier) and have a bunch so I can just mail you one in game. :)

You know you can use in-game money to buy a DDTT (dirt-destroying tick tock) which is basically a token to pay for staff to remove all dirt? If you're doing it by hand I recommend a bunch of enchanted shovels with mending on them that you can regularly repair at XP farms. Digging methodically is a much tidier and more efficient way to remove dirt than TNT. But I know some people enjoy the explosions too. ;)

  16. Thank you for the offer. Personally I prefer finding my own gear, but I'll ask if my SO is interested :D

As for removing dirt, I'm done, thanks :D a netherite shovel fully enchanted worked pretty well :D

  18. We don't know. There is an ongoing internal discussion of this topic... The wastelands themselves don't really need the reset. But the end, elytra, probably do... An open question whether that justifies a waste reset. Or if there is an alternate solution...

  19. as a new player, my feeling is that a reset would be nice for all dimensions.
sponges are not renewable, and I have the impression they're all gone.
plus I lost count of the treasure chests with one dirt or one string inside so that they do not reset (and it's not like they reset that often)
