Great. The Caliphate will also lease a naval port in Algeria for The Federation and allow the utmost importance of travel to and from the Mediterranean in all directions.
SEU decides to station 2 of the 4 refitted commerce raiders in Guinea, and 1 at an auxillary base at South Africa, as to interdict the Caliphate supply artery in the event of War. In addition, 2 Escort and 1 Fleet Carrier has been placed, as well as a Java-Class Battleship.
With Spain now in Caliphate hands, the Caliphate fills into the Peninsula and begins the slow process of taking over. The government is being replaced by the Muskafi Government type instituted by the Caliph. The military has placed a dreadlock on the region, instituting control and a complete military merge and take over. Portugal is next, they are invaded promptly but not without a fight. They didn't take too kindly to being taken over, but the Caliph promises a mere federal take over and that the Iberians will keep their constitutional rights and identity, although opposition is cut down incredibly fast, there is no religious conversion... There may be a war soon. After its annexation, two ports were ordered to be constructed, one heavily defended stronghold and naval port in Gibraltar, and one in the Bay of Biscay, all big enough to hold the Ninurta, which they will in a few months, as previous naval forts and strongholds are only being upgraded and made tougher. The Caliphate has also planned a fort on the Azores Islands. No one is taken too kindly about this, but the fact of the matter is that the entire Mediterranean is owned by the Caliphate. The SEU has the entire Pacific and the Asian oceans, but what they don't have is one of the most important seas on earth. The Suez Canal is literally impossible to invade, considering it's not only heavily armed and fortified but also the consideration that the entire coastline of the Red Sea is owned by the Caliphate and their allies. If the SEU wanted to invade, it would be like lining up two long rows of people facing each other, armed with stones, and then run through it and make it out alive. It's impossible. The Bosphorus strait has even more fortifications but lacks the bottleneck geography of the Red Sea. The Bosphorus is definitely the most well-defended post in the entire Sunayyad Caliphate, getting through it would spell the end of an entire Navy. The Caliphate won't let it go.
SEU is training their ships to interdict convoys, a clear sign that they are training to starve out the Caliphate in the event of war. Their Heavy Cruisers, with a very fast firing rate and fast speed as well as reasonable armor, are undergoing modernization to have more torpedo tubes. SEU is producing a new type of Submarine. The Air Force continues to work with Ilyushin, Sukhoi and Tupolev. SEU is making moves to control the South Atlantic, as it is their Goal and the most vital supply artery of the Caliphate.
The Caliphate is strengthening its Naval organization, undergoing various escort training exercises for defending against SEU attacks against Caliphate convoys. The Caliphate has been studying their training and finds the perfect way to defeat them. The Caliphate has a mere 100+ million people to feed, and the fact of the matter is that the Federation cannot be trusted to keep supplying food. The Caliphate has contacted their various allies and food suppliers, demanding an increase in agriculture production. The Sunayyad Caliphate can live without food from The Federation, it'll be a definite pain in the gut, although Canada also has large access to food supply.
SEU isn't going for the food. They're going for the Iron and Coal, as well as the all-important Aluminum. Despite all the Caliphate's attempts to secure these resources, their attempts have been like securing Romanian Oil; secondary. SEU's commerce raider Battleships are ridiculously fast, outrunning anything they cannot fight. In addition, Zheng He can also serve as a commerce raider. Cruisers are no match for them, and they are no match for proper Battleships, but their excellent targeting gives them a small hope of Victory.
SEU intelligence has figured out the specs of the new SNE Battleship to compete with the Ninurta, in truth a Battlecruiser. Displacement: 72,101 tons displacement full load 8 18-inch guns in 4 2-gun turrets APC Broadside Weight: 12 tons 32 knots full speed Essentially an enlarged version of the Admiral-Class Battlecruiser, (that seems to be a thing these days, making ships larger and upgunning them, only SEU has the creativity to not rehash old designs jk) with a slightly stronger focus on armor protection. Significantly faster than its main rival, the Ninurta, it is not built to withstand its own shells. However, it is still a capable opponent to the Ninurta directly due to its speed. The Java is a half-tier below them, but there are a lot more Javas. It is reasonably cheap (for a large ship), built for both raiding commerce and intercepting its enemies. SEU is well aware that their Battleships are outclassed, but they are confident their overwhelmingly superior Targeting and large numbers, as well as the new Ultraheavy shells will give victory in the event of war.
The Caliphate's control in Iberia collapsed, with only 2/3 of the region under Caliphate control. The Iberians don't like to be controlled and thus have fought back. The Caliphate is desperately quelling the uprising. Results in 3 posts.
SEU is continuing to develop their targeting Radars, and they are about to stumble upon a true breakthrough on the Radar. Thanks to UBR tech, SEU has the finest Firing Computers in the World. The Caliphate is a second, but they don't have anyone developing true electronic computer tech. SEU's computers are hybrid electrical-analogue, and are patently superior to anything else. They require few personnel to operate, and are true computers, unlike the SNE's Fire Control Tables. It is of note SEU's Battleships are called the "World's largest Submarines", and with good reason. They sit very low in the water and are bad sea boats. The Carriers are unarmored to speed up production... hmm, that won't backfire at all whatsoever! The only real things they are good at in survivability are Damage Control, unlike the IJN.
A plan to create naval ports in the Atlantic Ocean are underway, directly to defend against SEU commerce raiders, it will be a dent in money, but it will be worthwhile. Construction will end in 1-2 years. During, a war the best bet is too give Guinea hell. The Caliphate has full access, they are close by and have started construction on Naval ports in the Canary Islands. The SEU's power isn't as strong as the farther they go from home, with The Federation scoring the Cuban and Haiti Islands the Caribbean is Federation Turf. The Caliphate has also knocked out the USSR as the dominant navy in the Black Sea, further protecting their landmasses. The Caliphate's strength is great naval control in their oceans, but outside of the Sunayyad Caliphate, they lack incredibly in power in international waters. The furthest port is in the Atlantic Ocean, meanwhile, the SEU has a strong international presence.
SEU proceeds to instigate Socialist Revolution in many African countries, who feel threatened by the rising presence of islam.
Sucesssful revolutions: South Sudan Democratic Republic of the Congo Madagascar Nigeria Many other Socialist Revolutions have failed, but these have been spectacular successes. They feel quite threatned by Islam and readily join SEU in the Socialist cause. In any case, SEU is quietly displacing Guinea's natives with immigrants.
That'll be incredibly difficult for any country north of the parallel lines right above Zaire. Musawaism is basically semi-Socialism and Islam mixed and it's quite popular, meaning the SEU's going to be useless in every Islamic country. Hell, even Guinea is a majority Islamic country which would much rather prefer Musawism over Socliasm directly from Marxism, especially since Marxism is known for being against religion. The Caliphate has begun trading with the Zaire, exporting petroleum and importing cobalt, diamonds and other minerals and ores, heavily gaining resource input. Musawaism is spreading very fast throughout the Islamic world, but Wahhabism is rearing up its ideologies too. The SEU's anti-caliphate image doesn't help any Islamic nations world view of them. The Caliphate is heavily popular in basically every Muslim majority state, many nations have groups of people even requesting to join. Religion is a big factor in pleasing the people, and well, the SEU and USSR aren't good at it at all.
South Sudan doesn't exist. Sudan doesn't even exist, it's New Nubia and Kushite, a literal part of the Sunayyad Empire... I don't want to be a down player and contradict everything, but in the case of Nigeria, they're insanely divided on the Socialist cause, as half of the population is Islamic and the other are other religions. Nigeria' government joins the Socialist-Revolutionaries, but at the cost of the split of their people.
All I'm saying is that it's kind of difficult being Anti-Islam in a dominant Islam country, just saying...
Isn't South Sudan dominated by Ethnic Minorities? It should be easy enough for SEU to instigate wars of independence against the Caliphate.
SEU Submarine Design: After a long period of development, which was funded significantly recently, SEU has finally come up with a "Fleet Submarine", made to torpedo enemy capital ships such as Aircraft Carriers. Aircraft Carriers cannot be defeated without depleting their Air Wings or otherwise charging in so fast that the Air Wings cannot scramble, but the Submarine can get around that. However, SEU is well aware that others may copy them, and is developing a new type of depth charge and ASW to allow tin-can destroyers to escort the Aircraft Carriers and defeat Submarines. SEU torpedoes are honestly kind of bad, but the submarines and torpedoes are cheap and can be deployed in large numbers. 3,103 tons submerged speed irrelevant, they're a goddamn Submarine. 23,000 kilometers range surfaced at 10 knots 10 535mm torpedo tubes, 6 forward 4 aft 48 hours endurance 2 knots submerge This submarine has been nicknamed a downright hotel thanks to its sheer comforts (for submarines). They enjoy Air Conditioning (all Battleships and Carriers except Revolution), individual bunks (standard on SEU capital ships), and plentiful fresh water (standard on SEU Capital ships). The Air Conditioning allows for these ships to be mechanically reliable and successful; SEU plans to make this standard for every ship.
The Caliphate has quelled the uprising in South Nubia, reassuring and repeating the rights that they have and their freedom of religion and freedom of culture, They've calmed down for now. The Caliphate has made friends with a few African Nations, most importantly Niger, Mali, and Chad, only friends though, nothing else, maybe trading partners as well, but generally, every African nation is friendly.
SEU makes an unofficial offer to the Caliphate: 10 Degrees latitude and Up in Africa: Caliphate Turf. Everything below that: Socialist Turf. Of course, this is a loose guideline rather than any hard-and-fast rule. SEU can spread its influence above the 10th Degree, and Caliphate in reverse. However, it'll be very hard due to the Christian/Islamic Influence. In any case, SEU is warming up to several Christian factions, attempting to work with them to create trouble in South Sudan. They already have Orthodox Christians as a major religion, warming up to them is reasonably easy. After all, if all Christians have one thing in common, it's that they aren't all about the Islamics' "allah".
Deal, except for trade, the Sunayyad Empire wants to keep trading with the Zaire, but in cases of military alliances more so neutral states can side with the dominate country. The only exception is no influence with Kush (Sudan and South Sudan) and no influence with Abyssinia, even if a percent of them is Christian, they are very loyal to their alliance with the Caliphate. Keep the 10 degree line a blur, it doesn't cut countries in half like a knife, but the lower or the higher you go the more prone you are to stepping on others turf. In the case of an actual line, the 5 degrees latitude would be much more applicable, but other than that keep trade above the line still, but make the 10 degree line a blur.
