?

Was this even needed as a suggestion?

Why would you want to be altered to two letter words? 0 vote(s) 0.0%

  1. So a lot of people on EMC have a Double name as their username.. AncientTower, RainbowChin, MocoMiner, Ect... Well when people chat they sometimes to refer to a specific individual by starting the sentence with two letters. Each letter indicating that individuals double name... AT, RC, MM ect...

Well I found out when I went to set /chat alert add AT that I couldn't The minimum characters allowed for alerts is three.

So I'm suggesting bringing the minimum down to two letter. I mean what's the harm... If someone wants to be alerted to at or "AT" every time someone in chat says I'll be at the /park.. The more I think on this the less I'm liking it.... But it's not like it'll really effect the system in any negative way.

  2. I heard there was a good reason for it being 3, but 2 letter alerts would be nice. +1
  3. It's probably cause 2 letters can easily be in the middle of a word, so you'd get a bunch of pointless alerts and it would likely use a lot more resources than the current system does.

  4. +1 if it's cool with Aikar as I don't know if its a technical issue or not :p
  5. Maybe with 2 letters have it be case sensitive, so you'd only get notified if someone says "AT" and not "at"? :)

  6. +9001 add this.
  7. +1/2 It's ok, but as matheus pointed out, you'd get a ton of alerts you don't need.

I think many won't usecit for the fact if people sat call you at... at is a word and rod ping off.

I myself have finch as mine and won't have a use for it.

  10. I have this issue a lot, since most people call me jd. Numerous times I have missed somebody talking to me because of this. I would love to set jd as an alert, would make things much simpler. Plus, unlike AT I wouldn't get many useless alerts ;)

Also, as a workaround for this, I have set "hi jd" and "hey jd" as alerts. It catches some of the chat directed towards me, but not all of it.

  11. Sorry on cell it changes words... I can retype if needed..
  12. +1 I can see this being useful :)
  13. Well, the way this is done, Assuming my programming knowledge is helping here, its called Regular expressions. Pretty sure it can be setup to do 2 letters but even to just check and see if someone just says "Jd" or "tt" or "at". It would ignore whole sentences.

This can be done, just takes some extra programming.

  14. This would be cool! Not terribly useful for me, except in the passive sense (not getting accidentally ignored by JD, JP, JK, AT, and all the rest). Also, I learned alerts couldn't be 2 characters, so this thread is definitely not pointless (even if the suggestion isn't implemented).
