  1. Hey EMC,

Seeing as we are not able to get shops in the wild, what if we had a new shop system that was Fronter Based. This system is ment to keep the outposts growing and not just the player making income off others.

The way it would work is very same to a normal shop.

    Finch_rocks_1
    Pay 1 Iron
    Get 3 diamond

Would be on the sign for example. This way the items are still being traded but in a way thats stays in the outpost its at.

Let me know what you think.

  2. why not?
  3. I don't like it.
  4. Do you have a outpost with many players, or part of one far out in the wild?
  5. Well, There are ways to have open chests, but what if a wonder-er walks by and steals? You dont get those items back....

There are redstone ways, but to build one shop it costs 2-3k in redstone mats and blocks and its very bulky. Not to mention the fact not many people know much redstone or where to look...

So tell me.... what am I doing wrong?

This suggestion is to allow a easy way for members out of town to be able to trade with other members without worry of getting stolen from, or redstone mechanics....
  6. Locked chests, giving them to the person directly, being able to supply yourself with items. Do none of these cross your mind?

  7. How would this work for a outpost with 30 people? Putting locked chest on the chest? What, so then you also have to be online to do it? You cant have shops setup while you are offline?

I am sorry but what you suggest is not very efficient at all. This suggestion fixes and allows for the player selling to be offline during the sale.
  8. +1, I could see this being very useful in outposts that are far from town.
  9. Yeah, no.

What if someone doesn't like your trade? Then you have to be online for it to happen because, guess what, they have to barter with you. If you really need resources whilst out at an outpost the best idea is just to go back to town to get them yourself.
  10. Are you not part of an outpost? people dont like spending hours going to town to buy stuff....

And small FYI, there wont be one shop there... there are many players who will have shops... its like town, there are many shops...

If you are not part of a outpost then stop acting like its pointless...

I talk to players to want this and are not active in the econ due to the fact of town being so much work... You should not have to travel to town to buy stuff... Many outposts want shops....
  11. I agree with this sentiment in that I believe when Empires arrives this kind of issue will be resolved with gameplay mechanics that are already being worked on for that update. Also in addition to this, one of your main concerns is for those outposts far from town, of which my outpost assuredly qualifies, having such a long trip for trading. If I am not mistaken, there will be some options for teleportation to and from your outpost when Empires arrives, which would make this a moot point.

As for the easy way to prevent others from getting into your stuff, and yet make it available for all of your outpost members. Why not build a vault that is protected blocks that only you and your friends can break in to access the chests therein? The friend list gives the option to allow others to break your blocks if I am not mistaken, and this would be a simple work-around that is red-stone free.

My outpost is still in the staging phase, and as such we don't really have any non-family members at this time, so my thought above is as much an inquiry as it is a suggestion with respect to whether or not that is a viable option that I would try in the future when my outpost does become open to the public.

I do applaud your continued brainstorming efforts to make the Empire better :)

  12. With pleasure

(which does mean it is pointless)

<a new shop system that was Frontier Based> : floating cats that can talk :: apples : whales

You made it so obvious you were comparing the two in an attempt to not only derail the thread but insult the OP and what the thread was about.
You gave your -1 on it already; wasn't that enough?

Additionally, it would seem that a similar feature is already being implemented, and there was a time when player shops actually used to be a feature on EMC before they were removed. If you're going to comment on why you don't like something, why can't you at least provide some feedback as to why: instead of a 1-word, condescending, know-it-all, feigned clever "no?"

Ok, now, to avoid you pointing out my "hypocrisy" of "derailing the thread" -- since I know you/r friend(s) will most likely accuse me of that -- I'd like to give my two cents on this.

First, +1. I really agree with this idea, and it makes things much easier when I have an outpost around 32k blocks out from spawn.

Second, I'm not going to go into too much detail here... but you know how most resources are in Town/player shops? Well, unless your outpost entrance is practically glued to resource farms that are close to spawn with a nether portal ride, you're going to be stuck hauling all the items you need to for ridiculously long trips. For instance, my outpost is a 10-minute minecart ride through the Nether, and that's not even counting the time it takes to insert a security item through a password dropper, along with the 2 hallways you have to cross before even getting to the minecart rail. So this would help more than some people would realize.

  13. ^^
Would like to add, others are longer, A outpost on smp6 I am part of, is a 20 min rail, and the one for the one i own with 15 members, the rail to the main spawn is 35 mins, and then its more rails depending on what area you want to travel to (City, Residential, etc).

And Sure, some may find it pointless if they are not part of a outpost with other members, but outposts with members can benefit as it would but be a one player profit, but a outpost player to player profit.
  14. Oh hey, my actual response was deleted. K
  15. This thread continues to stay offtopic therefore I am closing it. The suggestion has been made before and will be considered by admins/devs.
  16. Quick reminder before the thread is closed.

This forum is about you all giving both staff and developers ideas to consider for implementation on the server. One of the key things here is to show each other respect in the suggestions. Disagree with cause if you want as those debates can improve suggestions and make them better. That said, handling the thread like it has been here makes sure it can't be considered because staff have to come in here and address the rule violations instead of the actual suggestion.

In short, think about what is being posted. If it does nothing to to improve or critique the suggestion, the post should not be made.
