With the advent of mending, after a while your gear maxes out and never diminishes barring an incident with a lava pit or too many mobs. So as I was sitting there with maxed gear at level 52, I was wondering what everyone else does with theirs? Do you stockpile back up gear for emergencies, or to sell? Use them all on books? Are there any ways we could use the excess levels in future updates that would be fun? More enchant levels/ custom enchants/ anything else?
Back up gear is always a good idea. Sets of armor, weapons and tools are always great to have on-hand. When my backup gear has backup gear, I just ask in town chat if anyone needs the xp levels, and I do repairs or enchanting for folks who say "aye". Another great idea is to stock up for holiday gift giving, or your own drop party. Enchanted gear cutely renamed makes a great gift If you're a prankster, you could also take Corrupted's approach. He renames a stack of items. apples = I scream if you eat me. steaks = Probably not human flesh. etc... Just drop those on people randomly
I'm too lazy to use them on anything lol. I have 100+ levels of XP right now.. I wish MC added a feature where you could convert XP into XP bottles, but oh well.

Lol, four years later and not much has changed? *edit: All the more reason that this topic should be relevant towards the future of Minecraft/EMC. Even before the advent of mending and a few other enchants that cost experience, end game players were experiencing a point where levels essentially lost their meaning. A lot of joy that comes from this game are the variety of ways to approach it. As we max out that variety begins to diminish. How could we use levels to make the end game more enjoyable?
hm.. I build alot in town, so I am not always that rich in xp (I have alot of tools that I have repaired over and over again, without earning that much xp in town :3) However if you have everything you need with your xp, you can make some good rupees from making maxed tools and selling them.
I stockpiled it, eventually making me have more than 100 levels on 3 different accounts, one as high as 165, I believe. But I also sometimes used it for enchanting, putting enchanted books on items, or renaming melons for item sorters. I wanted to make some more tools recently, so I used quite a bit of levels on that; now only one account is over 100 levels.
