Weather in town please?

  1. Pretty simple, I see darkened skies, I hear thunder from time to time... how about turning on weather in town? It doesn't affect anything, purely aesthetic, but nice.

    Thanks!
  2. I like the idea although weather can be a pain and obstruct player's vision. Ideally, you could set it on a per-residence basis.
  3. Everytime I see this I see a knife in my ears and a gun to my sanity...

  4. Weather in town sounds nice, and indeed.. Something like a per residence basis is then the best is my opinion.

  5. I think on a per-residence basis would cause lag too. Each res can change it's biome independently too

  6. No. We can't have rain in town. Rain makes my game lag

  7. This has been suggested before, and was denied due to server lag.

  8. If I want rain storms I can go to the wild. -1

  9. It is possible to send individual players packet information on whether it is raining or not. But not make it actually rain/snow/other on an individual residence level. So still no ;)

  10. Weather also means snow and snow can clog an unwillingly players residence as well as lag the whole server. Ideally it would be on a per residence basis but I have no idea how you could possibly achieve that.

  11. Agreed, not the best post:p. But in my defense, I was on my phone while at work, so it was the best I could do.

  12. I am not sure Weather or not this is possible :)

Personally, I do not want rain or snow in town, but that is just my opinion.

    EDIT:
  13. Rain is a Vanilla feature. Rain only lags you if your computer sucks. But there's a very simple fix.

    1) get optifine
    2) TURN RAIN PARTICLES OFF
    3) don't deny suggestions because your computer is shit.

    it needs to be said.
  14. This has been suggested more than once before, and I'm sure many people may think it's a great idea. Personally, I'd rather have great server performance as opposed to seeing it rain, snow, be sunny, and thunder and lightning from the same spot. I just don't see the benefit of town weather. Staff has repeatedly said no to this. So why is this thread still alive anyway?

  15. The lack of weather is one of Town's many perks, and one of the reasons I prefer town to the Frontier. Plus then they'd have to add an extra res flag in to prevent snow from accumulating on res's where it snows, etc, etc. It's just not likely to happen.

  17. I think, in terms of lag, it's a bad idea. Honestly, my computer works great with everything but rain. Also, you shouldn't need to get Optifine just so you can play on a server. With more work than is needed, you could just find another server instead of all of it.
