  1. You're hearing only certain words and jumping to conclusions. Suggestions in general can sometimes be improved to be more favorable. That does not say your idea is bad, your idea needs improvement, your idea is not good. None of these statements have been made by anyone but you.

  2. There was one post of yours i did not see, im sorry, get what your saying now...
  3. I think if you want to say it bad words you have to be in a group or PM and ask the person or other people first before you do if it's ok with them I kinda. Agree with Gawa on this if your a 10 in up you have probably heard seen bad language.

  4. A filter can so far before it becomes annoying. As I mean like for instance "Stupid, ignorant, retarded" can be considered "Bad" if used for the wrong purpose.

If this becomes a feature it needs to be a setting for players to toggle.

  5. tbh it would be a great idea but some smaller children get mad when you say Hell,so i would be afraid as to how much they would pull back, but i mean tit is allowed even though boob is not so its weird

  6. There are two problems with this. One: If you don't want to see bad words, join a different server. I know it sounds harsh, but honestly, the chat rules were put in place and listed in the wiki. If you think it should be changed, by all means, voice your opinion. But if it's not popular, then it wouldn't be a change that's supported by the players, and wouldn't be good for EMC. The other issue is to filter topics, there would have to be such an aggressive chat filter that turning off town chat would do nearly the same thing. For example, let's say you wanted to block anything related to the Boston Bombing. Now, I say "creeper is about to bomb your house, dude", and it gets filtered. "Hey, you watch the Red Sox game? Boston's finally showing some skill" gets blocked, too. Any topical filter wouldn't be effective as it's not the words that are needing to be blocked, but the ideas.

I see things that offend and annoy me every day. I recommend that you implement my strategy. If it's against the rules, or I see it as bullying, I step up. If it's just me being offended because of my ethics or beliefs, I find a quiet room, close all of the doors and windows, and simply deal with it. If you don't want your kids exposed to what is, for lack of a better term, called 'PG chat', filtered and moderated using the clear and easily accessible rules in the wiki, then don't let them play on a server that clearly states it's chat rules and then (gasp) follows them.

  7. [Possibly Family Unfriendly Comment Below]
I have seen a VERY extensive and expanded version(e.g. crap is flagged) of these filters and they are the biggest turn-off for deciding whether to play on a server to me. I am of a mature age and so I wish to be mostly unhindered in how I speak, 97% of which is "family friendly".

This comment irks me to nether and back. +1 to you if you see what I did there. ;)
Lets just say that a family doesn't like talking about global warming. If they go to a public park to have a picnic and another family is talking about global warming, they have no right to silence them. Just because you or some other group of people does not like something, that does not mean that it should be changed against the supporters or mostly agreeing majority. Define "strange conversations" please.
