Zombie Plague

April 1, 2014 by Aikar Leave a Comment

Minecraft Zombie PlagueThis is a public service announcement. Our Minecraft Servers have been over-ran with a Zombie Plague. Anyone who comes into contact with a Zombie will be infected, turning into a zombie and then furthur spreading the plague. Please be on the look out for Zombies and avoid them at all cost.

The plague started around 1AM EST on April 1st, 2014 by the player “tehsami”. tehsami was adventuring in the wilderness and came into contact with a zombie. The player was unaware they were infected as the zombie plague acts as a trojan horse and hides itself until you reach town.

Upon entering town, tehsami turned into a Zombie, and then started to spread the Zombie Plague infection. The Zombie Plague spread very quickly after that.

What to look for

Any zombie you see will infect you. Zombies in the wild can only infect you on contact, but once the plague spreads to a player, they then themselves release the plague into the air around them. This means simply being near an infected player will also spread the plague to you.

How to avoid the Zombie Plague

If you see a zombie in the distance, run away very fast! But be warned, infected players have increased powers and run faster and can chase you down.

It is advised to find a deep location within your home and lock all doors so that they can not enter and get near.

Keeping track of the infections

The Minecraft Disease Control Center has started keeping track of the spread of the infection and has added a command /infections that lists the players who have caused the most infection. It is advised to avoid these players at all cost.

Removing the zombie plague

If you have become infected and no longer wish to be infected, you may simply type /ps (for Player Settings) and disable the plague. This will remove the effects and prevent you from spreading the plague yourself.
