  1. Quite possibly. I've only had experience with a microphone but I assume if it plugs in with a jack and the computer recognizes it, it would show up as an option. Worth a shot for sure as then you have direct recording.

  2. From my experience, a computer does not have a plug for a standard guitar cable. What I usually do is plug in a microphone and record the amp, BUT, if you don't want to have your guitar tone sound like 128 kpbs black metal, then you can buy an audio interface. What that does is make a direct connection and cuts out noise and humming. By plugging your guitar cable into the interface, and then into the computer and recording through that, you get a decent tone. Then you can use the Ableton live lite software it comes with to do whatever. The cheapest and most effective audio interface is around 100 dollars, cheaper compared to most blue yeti microphones.
