DID YOU KNOW: Wasabi is only naturally grown in four Japanese prefectures, and there aren’t enough artificial cultivation facilities to meet the supply and demand of the Japanese. Because of this, Japan imports massive amounts of wasabi from South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, New Zealand, Israel, and the United States... and it’s still not enough to meet the demand! It cannot be mass cultivated because the plant is extremely hard to grow even under the perfect conditions. Because of this, unless you’ve been to Japan you’ve probably never actually eaten wasabi. The ‘wasabi’ sold in Europe, the Americas, where there is the most demand outside of Japan for it, is actually pulped horseradish with some green food colouring in it. The only exceptions to that, outside of Japan, are the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Iceland, where it is successfully commercially grown. And even then it’s unlikely to be found anywhere outside of fancy restaurants.
Here's a wasabi Sauce/marinade, I like on chicken/chops. 1/3 cup Wasabi 1/4 cup Dijon Mustard 1/4 cup Soy Sauce 1/4 cup Rice Wine 1 tbs. Sesame Oil 1 tbs. Apple Cider Vinegar 1 tbs. Asian All Season 1 tbs. Ginger 1 tbs. Black Pepper Wisk all together.
