It can make you jump slightly, sometimes. But it's not scary at all.

You should watch Mayatutors play it. Everytime he sees a zombie:
"Oh. There's a zombie in the house. Let's just get into this room here... erm... Close the door... where's my axe? There it is. It's in my inventory. COME AT ME ZOMBIE... I opened the door... BAM! I hit him in the head!"

Then watch one of the developers play it (RinGoD):
"AHHH [cuss] [cuss] [cuss] THERE'S A [cuss] IN THE HOUSE! WHERE THE [cuss] IS MY [cuss] AXE? JESUS! I'M DYING! I'M DYING! AAHAHHH!!"
*Later on*
