You actually can drop soulbound items if you are a bit laggy and mesing around with inventory. If you use the Inventory Tweaks mod or anything similar then I can tell you there are bugs that will make you lose items. When a soulbound item is dropped the system should see this and will mail it back to you. I have had this happen a few times.
