What if it's not far enough out? Also, the griefers do what Penguin said, they just do it multiple times.
Zolara is out 20k from the north teleport outpost and that is the closest you can get to it from one of the spawn points
What if 20K isn't far enough out? This griefer might have been willing to go a little further if he knew he could get better things from it.
It's not that simple, sadly. Big cities make big targets. I still hold to the philosophy that "distance is your best defense" but it's a poor solution, and building large and in the open will inevitably invite griefers to come take a look, sooner or later. I periodically use WorldDL on New Atlantia to keep a record of the place, just in case someone decides that an hour's travel is worth the trip to come tear the place up - it's already happened once. That was the second griefing, by the way.
