   which type of Linux distro are you running? I run Ubuntu 12.04 LTS try updating proprietary drivers they usually say the grafics drivers need to be updated to work.. I found that running JDK6 works not JDK 7 for some reason
   You are probably have the same problem I did when I first got Ubuntu, Don't install JDK 7 use JDK 6 i will provide link if you are using Ubuntu
   http://openjdk.java.net/
   there you go install openJDK6 from there and MC should work
