If all else fails, just create a folder named "minecraft" in application support. (I think) the files will be placed in it once you run minecraft again.
That should now show all previously hidden files, so if you ever want to hide the files again for some reason, do the same thing but with FALSE instead of TRUE. Glad you got it working, and now when I update to Mountain Lion I'll already have figured out how to fix it XD
