When I fought the eye of Cthulu, i had someone-I-Will-Not-Name be a decoy so I could shoot it with a diamond staff/the undertaker (I switched of after I ran out of mana). I also used rocket boots to get above it while it was in the air.
The Eye of Cthulhu was easy for me when I fought it. If you're struggling with it, here's some info about the boss. *Spawning: In addition to finding it as a random encounter, a Suspicious Looking Eye can also be used at night to summon the Eye of Cthulhu. These can be crafted with 6 lenses at a Demon/Crimson Altar. Random encounters stop one it's defeated at least once in the world. *Positioning: The Eye of Cthulhu will always try to fly over its target unless it's using its ramming attack. Due to how high it hovers, melee weapons of shorter ranges, like swords, aren't practical. Although once the boss enters its second form, it will fly closer to its target into melee range of most weapons. *Attacking Pattern: Other than summoning servants, The Eye of Cthulhu only has a ramming attack. These attacks are always done sets of 3 with a rest in-between each attack to aim. Unfortunately, there's no 'tell' for when it's about to happen. Once it's in its second form, it will only preform charging attacks.

My record for beating the Eye of Cthulu is 29 seconds. It isn't a hard boss to defeat. Plantera's name actually was based off of that band, and the guitar that drops when you beat Plantera is actually the guitar from the lead guitarist in that band.
