  1. Hey guys!! I am deciding on getting a gaming PC especially for Minecraft and Frapps. I had two computers in mind:

    Alienware X51 Gaming PC - 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3770 3.40GHz, 8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660, Blu-ray, Windows 8 64-bit, Keyboard & Mouse, (AX51-9302BK)

    iBUYPOWER SUPREME TG931SLC Gaming PC - 3rd Gen. Intel Core i7-3770 3.4GHz, 16GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, 120GB SSD, DVDRW, ATI Radeon HD 7850, Liquid Cooling, Windows 8 64-bit

So thoes are the two I found. If you could please let me know which one is better or if there are any other computers I could consider that would be SUCH a great help!!!! Thanks!!

  2. Don't buy Alienware, don't get Windows 8, and get an SSD.
  3. Alienware's cost is 75% hardware, 25% eye candy. Just don't get Alienware.
  4. agreed

  5. If you are willing to assemble it yourself, I can design you a computer on Newegg (Building a computer is easy and fun, it is literally plugging everything into the slot that matches the plug)

  6. i'd do a custom build, and definately stay away from Windows 8.

  7. me and my father are building this one it says its for editing but its good for gamming too and a ssd is good for editing if your going to use it for gamming you can shave $100 off of that

  8. Why is everyone against windows 8? What's wrong with it? Just curious.

Anyways, One thing is for sure. Don't get Alienware.
    If anything get the iBuyPower.

Buuuttt.... If you want to save some money and get more performance. Build it yourself. I have been in the Computer hardware field for about two years so if you PM your preferences and budget I can send you a build and a video on how to build the computer and links to each part and advice.

If not. You can still PM your budget and I will try to find a pre-built one but it will most likely have less performance and cost more.

I am currently using a custom PC for $2050.

I will just briefly list the parts to let you know what the main parts are that matter/cost most.

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k 3.5ghz (The "K" at the end means it is unlocked.)
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77V ATX (ATX is the size, 77 is the Chipset. I will tell you about the info later.)
    Memory: 16GB DDR3-1600 2x8 Corsair Vengeance
Storage (x2): Seagate Barracuda 2TB 72000RPM + Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD (For OS, less than 10s bootup)
Video Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 680 2GB DIRECTCU II TOP
PSU: Corsair AX850 80+ GOLD Modular Power Supply

  9. I got a custom built pc also and it cost me around $1200. For my operating system I do have windows 8 and alot of people say it sucks but I don't really see anything wrong with it + I got it super cheap at release. Another OS would have costed me an extra $200-400

  10. Exactly. I have Windows 8 also. I see no problems and I got it for free because my parts dealer was really nice. Shhh.
  11. Why does everybody hate Windows 8? Im running it and its better then 7 in alot of cases :p

Also, The second one would I choose... Not because I hate alienware, But because its faster, better and more overclocking freindly.. :)

  12. Wow guys thanks for such amazing info!! You all have really saved me from buying the wrong thing :D I am definitely considering building my own now since a majority of people say that it is a better option!
  13. many games are not win 8 compatible and also it's just not worth the money.
  14. Windows 8 uses the same desktop coding format at Windows 7. All games are played in desktop because the Metro screen is pretty much an added shortcut area. There is no incompatibilities and if there were it would be minor things that wouldn't affect your experience.

Not worth the money? They are the same price.
  15. Completely wrong use of the term "Coding format" what you actually most likely mean is Kernel, in which case you'd be correct, same kernel, the main complain against Windows 8 is the start button (or lack of thereof) forcing you to spend extra money to either fix it or have to deal with a sluggish, tablet interface for working, not to mention the ridiculous DRM on Windows 8, It's locked into the BIOS, change motherboard? Another $199 please.

Honestly, go with windows 7 (There is a reason that Windows 7 market share has actually RISEN, even after windows 8 was released)

Enough of that now, OP, the best bet for you is to build your own system, there's so many tutorials on-line (Look up Duncan3303's build guide to get an idea of the difficulty (or lack thereof) with building a pc))

  16. I see what you mean. Most of it is personal preference but most things are compatible so there isn't anything WRONG with Windows 8 just something most people don't like.
  17. Windows 8 is perfectly fine. I prefer it over win 7 infact. If your problem with it is the start button just download classic start problem solved. Or if need be. Install both. As for which one definitely go custom. Will save you heaps, perform better, and won't have the big computer company (eg, acer or asus) restrictions And other crap on it.
  18. oh rly? last time I checked 64 bit windows 8 was stupidly expensive compared to the windows 7 counterpart, and I have win 8 on my laptop and I have had problems with old games not being very good on it :(
  19. Alienware is made by dell now so you would save money by getting a dell with the same(or near the same) specs. and get windows 7 not 8
  20. That is unfortunate. There shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 gaming. What games are you playing specially? Depending on where you live the Windows prices could be different but one thing Microsoft said was that Win7 and Win8 are the same price and it was like that last time I checked my shops.
