Chat Updates

  1. We can all agree that now that EMC has updated their chat the supporters aren't worth as much. Now it's time for my suggestion.

Ever since EMC has removed town/economy they have removed a key feature I have enjoyed. When I advertise my casino I enjoy server crossing and pasting in what I say and leaving fast. My suggestion is to have the serves recognize what what you had before you left the previous server(like they had before). Say I was in economy chat on smp1 and I go to smp2, then I would like to still be in economy chat on smp2.

I don't think it's a bug. I think EMC removed that feature on purpose and I want to know why. Post what you think about it.

  2. If I'm talking with someone on SMP1, oops, forgot to grab my sword, I go back to SMP3 and then come back, now I type to say hi and I'm in Community Chat! Is this gamebreaking? No, but it would be easier if it was kept. Especially with server advertisers, let me lay out how helpful it could be.

    Me: Gotta advertise! *starts typing*
    /smp1
    /c m
*pastes* Check out sweet deals at /v 666666!
You do this nine more times. (because Utopia)

But, if we had this, now we get rid of nine more commands, because you don't have to do /c m. However, if this is a struggle to add in-game I can see why it isn't there, it's not that necessary. Though...

  4. Ouch.
  5. Sorry, but I have to go -1 on this.

First: if you want to focus on a specific channel then add a channel specifier to your message. So instead of:

    "buy from my shop!"

    use this:

    "@m buy from my shop!"

If you copy/paste that last line across the servers then you'll always post in the market channel no matter what channel was actually active. So there really isn't much to solve here I think because you can already do what you want.

The other reason I'm not in favor is because I actually appreciate the per-server setting. Last few days I've been very busy with moving a large amount of items from SMP1 to SMP2. On SMP1 I was talking in local chat and on SMP2 I was in community chat. So as soon as I hopped onto SMP1 and said something I knew immediately if there was someone around me or not.

But the moment I hopped onto SMP2 (my home server) I didn't have to bother with anything else whenever I saw someone ask a question. I could answer them right away because I was already in community chat.

Different servers, different channels which amount to different activities.

I really don't want having to think about which channel I am in all the time. I set it up once (so basically switching to local chat on SMP1 in my example) and then I continue to use that until I'm done. It would become seriously bothersome if I had to switch the chat channel every time I hopped onto the other server.

  6. You see it would take you to community chat. The thing is nobody knows about the @a whatever stuff.
  7. I use it all the time...
anyway, for the reasons before mentioned, -1

  8. A fair point I think, but we can work on that. I don't think I ever did a guide on chatting, but if I did.. well, time for a rehaul :) Expect something upcoming week.
  9. I would have to go -1 too sorry
