No I can't, but I don't see why I would. There's pretty much no point in it. The only real reasons why we're using the banks in reallife are safety of our money, interest and the possibility to transfer money without the need to carry it to the person we want to give it to. In short saftey, interest and transfer. My rupees are safe already because no one except me (and maybe admins 'n mods^^) are able to use them. There is no interest on EMC so this point is out of the question. Last but not least transfer... "/pay <name> <amount>" anyone? As long as there is no use to it, its simply unnecessary. If we really want to implement some form of bank we should find some uses for it first. Interest, direct debit and loans would be some form of use, but I dont see the need to implement a bank for these. And as you say, interest would be pretty sick for the already rich people. They would get even richer. I, with my puny 2600 rupees, wouldn't use an interest system because I want my money at hand, to spend it, if I need to. The gorge between non-supporters and supporters would be even greater. The admins and mods probably put a lot of effort in the exact numbers for the supporter rupee boni. This would get completely out of hand if there is a bank for interest. I see some problems with direct debit too, but I'll stop now. This post is big enough already >.<
Well, with interest... If Dark_Liz put all in interest (It's about 250,000r to 300,000r) that would create between 25,000 a week or 30,000 a week. Which is a lot of money. (Somebody like me would only get 2,000 a week but meh.)
The rupee system is already functionally a banking system. It could be tweaked to add something like interest, but players already recieve money "from the bank" in the form of a sign-in bonus, so such changes would just mean doing things differently... and the current system is quite well balanced. I think an interest system would actually end up turning the economy into one where there are those who are extremely rich (those who don't spend thier money; saving it to earn interest from it), and those who are extremely poor (those who spend all their money all the time and never earn any interest from it). There are rich and poor players already. It's just that I believe the implementation of interest would widen the gap between the rich and the poor rediculously by making rich players even richer and doing absolutely nothing for poor players.
Exactly what I meant. If there would be a building like the EMC shop, where you have to visit to do... yeah here's my problem, again... What to do with a bank? I think the idea of a bank isn't bad at all. It's just that we need a good reason for it. The only reason I see, is the loan idea from diamond, and this could be done with the system already in existence. And even this would be just a "quality of life" addition for the landlords.
That's how credit cards work Crazy, didn't you know that ? Pay with money that's not there on the spot, and reimburse the bills at the end of the month (If you can't, say hello to the repo men). But I ask you what the point of a bank is here ? There is no rupee purse limit on our accounts, and nobody can rob you of this money And about the loans system : I bet that we could be having Ponzi schemes or the likes going on in just a few weeks of the implementations. And how can you realistically make people pay debts ? ban them ? I'll have to say trololo-nono to all that jazz
say if we put intrest in to the idea,we can only get... 1000 to 1700 a week? so there would be more commands like /show intrest - shows intrest /collect intrest - gives you your intrest now it seems like a good idea? =)
I think you need to give a little more thought to what Dark_Liz Said. our rupees system already works like a bank. Having separate accounts in idea honestly confuses me. I get the concept, I grasp your meaning. But you keep answering the same questions with the same answer, that is only confusing people. The biggest question I see asked is "What would be the purpose of a Bank?" We can already store money, its not like our rupees are droppable items like an old sonic game. You do not loose any if you die, they do not dissapear if you do not spend them. The only way for you rupees to go anywhere, is for you to choose them to do so. If this is all a question about a way to just simply get more money, open a shop, offer services, charge for a roller coaster. But creating an interest system? It just does not seem like a valid need in the community. This is not the real world, we do not a loan/credit system. That seems ridiculous ( not meant to be difficult). Justin has already provided many different ways to gain an extra rupee or two when needed. And it takes two seconds to go out in the wild get some wood and sell it until the point you reach the desired amount of rupees for that 3rd diamond.
The concept of a bank account as you're describing it wont work because of two reasons: 1 - If you have a bank account that doesn't charge interest in a game where you cannot lose your money, it's pointless. 2 - If you have a bank account which pays interest on your saving rate then eventually the economy will spiral rapidly out of control as the players with large sums of Rupees earn large sums of interest which means more money pumped back into the market which means the inflation rate will go through the roof, the market will crash and everyone will die because it costs 40,000r for a single loaf of bread. Good idea, but wrong game for it as Empire have the Rupees system fairly sewn up in my opinion.
