Hi, I was thinking about a promo for the 5th of November (Guy Fawkes Night). If you don't live in the UK, you may not know what Guy Fawkes Night is... Guy Fawkes Night is annually celebrated on the 5th November. On the 5th November 1605, a group of Catholic conspirators planned to blow up the houses of parliament, they laid down gunpowder at the night all around the houses of parliament. Luckily, just before they lit it up they were caught and they were all hung, drawn and quartered. (Been hung by their necks until almost unconcious, had their heads cut off, then cut into 4 pieces ) We normally know this date by "Bonfire Night" or "Fireworks Night" due to the explosion it would of caused. On this night, people usually go to large firework displays or set of fireworks at home. Normally these nights start with a bonfire where small school children burn knitted mini Guy Fawkes that they made in class followed by very large firework displays! There is normally a display of some sort in every town/village; sometimes two or even more! So I think there should be a promotional firework/gunpowder/fire items for this day! Thanks Wipple5
Pretty sure EMC does Major (and some Minor) 'Murican holidays BUT I do not know, I thought I was gonna go somewhere.
Not much to 4th of July - America declared war on Britain. You can make them sound simple if you want to and it doesn't mean not much happened.
Remember, remember, the fifth of November, The gunpowder, treason and plot, I see no reason why the gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot.
Declaring one's independence is a little more substantial than having a house almost blown up. If that were the case, we could have promos for when Abraham Lincoln got shot or Kennedy or world trade center bombings... Why not push for something more like Remembrance Day on November 11th?
But the culprit was planning to blow it up during a session of Parliament. It would have killed all the nobles, thus resulting in England descending into chaos, as well as wars being fought for people trying to take advantage of the power vacuum. It very well could have destroyed England.
Could have, would have, etc....it didn't happen though. You know how many plots against the u.s. government there has been?.... Stick with an idea for Remembrance Day instead. It's more likely to happen =P
What about Lief Erikson's Compass for Lief Erikson Day..? It would be a compass that always points towards spawn in map.. Although that may take a bit of work and be unfeasible...
... this day has been celebrated before the US was even fully colonized and long before the American Revolution I dont think you have the right to tell other people in a country you dont even live in to tell which holiday is more important and that they should celebrate instead?
Cool so when Scotland becomes independent we get promos. I recommend a Scotland flag not because it would be too easy for krysyy to build but Orange stained glass for Irn-Bru, something to represent a deep fried Mars bar. Lol, only joking
I think you misunderstand my comment. Someone was stating that the 4th of July was simple. I was explaining that it was more. Regardless, I am not saying what holiday you should celebrate. I am advising which holidays would be more likely to receive recognition on EMC and if you are looking for a promo item, that's what you are going for is it not? I repeat: I NEVER told someone that they shouldn't celebrate their holidays. I merely am reminding the community that we don't make promos for every little holiday or else there would be one every week...
This is a huge thing in the UK, we celebrate just the same as you probably do with 4th July, maybe more! If this would of happened England would have of been a completely different place, the results still would not of been fixed by today. The only reason you people don't think the promo is a good idea is because you don't think Guy Fawkes Night is a big thing due to you don't celebrate it. I don't think 4th July as a big thing as I don't celebrate it, for me its just a regular day. I am sure if Guy Fawkes Night was one of your annual events you would agree with the promo idea.
