Well, whilst the method of obtaining these rupees is disagreeable to some, the reasons behind are something I approve of. The rupees will go towards future events/contests, making them much more enjoyable.
I didn't get that either. People with infinite rupees raising rupees for contests.
If you are going to override the derelict system's job whenever you have a few complaints about it doing it's job, then what is the point of having a derelict system?
Previously, when supporter vouchers and rupees were given out as prizes, they were donated by other players. This auction is similar to that if I understand it correctly.
As for the player banned in relation to deals made, I would be beyond surprised if there wasn't some trouble causing twist embedded in it. The participants of the deal were likely honest, but that player is associated with all things trouble.
What's interesting is, if that it wasn't for the unfortunate mechanics of being able to vote for a banned player this res would have gone derelict already, on the 5th of this month.
And even more interestingly, this player could have have really messed with players by continuously voting each time the timer hits a few days. By removing the res from their hands, we prevented this also.
And yes, something that might not have been noticed/realised is that for every event or contest we hold, we have always (or in recent months) used donated rupees, from a collective "prize fund" if you will. The proceeds of this auction will go straight into this fund.
An obvious exception being that tokens which can't be gifted, so adjusting is the only option.
