Sure. I might be missing it if it still happens, but there was a time where each of the servers were completely full during peak times at night. and weeklyish posts from administrators etc. l Mostly just mean more regularly "busy", if that makes sense.
Success really can't be measured in terms of full servers anymore. Sure, there are several popular servers out there but they are mostly pay to play and they nickel and dime their players for every cent they can get. EMC isn't that type of server. What we are is consistent. Success should be measured in the fact we are still here with a loyal player base and will be here for the foreseeable future.
I'm not really comparing it to any of those servers. And I'm not saying that EMC won't hang on for it's currently at for a long time, but I do know it could definitely be a lot more thriving with the right effort put into it. Because of how good it is. That isn't to knock on everybody who's putting work into it now, as I know everybody's doing what they can, including you. :-)
Are you hinting that you want to come back and be the community manager for EMC? That sounds nice -- an active community manager (our current one has been inactive for 5 years and was last seen in-game nearly 3 years ago)
I am not an Admin and so this is just my own opinion. Knowing who you are I would suggest seeing you join in-game and help the community grow through participation. I, personally, would have a greater appreciation of your thoughts and opinions if you were active in-game. None of us need admin or CM status to build community and encourage new players to stay around.
Socks - I get your hesitancy to hear what I'm saying as you and I never had the pleasure to hang out back when I got this started. But, me (or anyone) showing up in game to play wouldn't make much of a difference in terms of my thoughts. I've always thought of things (this and not gaming stuff) in terms of business smarts and growth opportunities. CM used to be more than just a "status" though.
It's a very active (well should be) role that can facilitate things growing that are outside the scope of only playing in game. You mentioned you see success in the small tight nit community that's here, and if that is the current goal of what the server is, that's great.
But, in my head, I always think about things, businesses, etc. in terms of, how can we grow it exponentially, which in turn will make things better for the community that already exists as well. But, if it matters for my opinion weighing on you, I did used to spend roughly 12-15 hours a day doing things in and out of game for EMC in it's early growing phases.
I haven't really done MC much on PC, but do keep up to date on my friend's bedrock server. Also, my original thought/status wasn't to be as a 'hit' to EMC, but rather the opposite. It has access to 100,000+ possible players who no longer visit here. The google description for EMC boasts 300+ active players at any given time. I think that potential with the right leadership is still possible for EMC.
For sure! And I totally get that if the current goal of EMC is to remain a small tight community over one aiming for big growth. Neither goal is a bad one, just different.
We're not trying to stay small but we're not looking to be the next Hypixel either. MC has had it's hay day in the past, that's when emc had the most players but MC isn't the latest, neatest thing anymore but that's ok. EMC's still here, we have new people coming in as well as older players finally getting a break from college, irl, or whatever.
