Tbh same, when I was in Las Canarias 2 years ago I was able to handle the heat just fine (probably something to do with my DNA being built for the Mediterranean :P) - it was hotter than the UK is atm but the breeze was cool and I was actually able to sweat because of the low humidity
The UK’s infrastructure is built for a temperate climate that has a winter arctic freeze as an extreme, so our houses are built to trap in as much heat as possible, and then the North Sea humidity is so high that when it gets hot your body tries to cool itself by sweating (duh smh) but your sweat gets trapped against your body and starts beating you up instead
This heatwave has been further compounded by the fact it’s not a heatwave, but part of a climate change caused heat dome that is making the breeze warm too. The air feels like hot syrup.
