Sounds like you need the post code. Ideally one would have an LED light that you could plugin to the motherboard and get it to blink what the issue is.

I had a similar issue when I built my PC. Turns out the RAM wasn't seated properly. Make sure it is all the way in the slots.

Also make sure your cables are plugged in to the GPU, not the mobo, assuming you have a discrete GPU

Hi and thanks for your comments, I have done all the basic checks on cables. I have disconnected some fans as I had more than I needed, I always found this case too small so I may have to replace it.

I did manage to the bios post to the monitor a few days ago but on reboot no post. I have an Asus Rog Crosshair VIII Hero (Wifi) MOBO, the error codes that appear are 02, 04, 71 and 35, looking on the Asus website I think it says

communication connection error. I have cleaned out most of the fine dust and can't see what the problem could be. Monitors work fine with laptop so no issue there.

My next step is to purchase a new case and fully dismantle all components and reassemble in a new case hoping the issue corrects itself or I can replace the part. Any ideas

It is certainly worth noticing, that a computers ability to boot is independent of the case. Definitely reassembling seems like a good step though.

Yes, the MOBO does have an independent button to boot, I bought a midi case which although everything fits, is tight, the cables at the back particularly.

I found some info on the Asus website and it looks like it's the CPU that is the problem.
