I believe that is the best version. The filming is richer and the characters are cast perfectly. The scenery is colorful and inviting. I can't even begin to count how many times my wife and I watched it. I tried watching another version but it appeared gloomy to me and I can't watch movies that add the movement to the camera.
It was amazing, by the way! I would like to watch it again.
@farmerguyson The thing that impressed me most was not mentioned by you: the mimics are amazing. There are so many shots where nothing is said and you just see the countenance of Elizabeth Bennet, or Caroline Bingley, or Mr Darcy etc, and their facial expression speaks volumes!
Good point. I watch that at least twice a year and never grow tired of it. It is a great mood boosting movie. I actually enjoy Mr. Collins' role. Have you watched the 2005 version of it?
I have! I really liked that one as well. I'd have to watch it again to compare the two, but it seems an unfair comparison anyway, as for a 6 episode long series you can afford to spend a lot more time on certain things than in a feature film.
In any case the 2005 version has a stellar soundtrack, and I found the 1995 one fairly lacklustre in comparison. The main theme is good, but it plays too often, and the other themes are unmemorable.
