Ironically there has actually been a surge in players recently - but for the past year or so you could expect 60ish players at peak times. EMC has declined substantially since you were last active :(
Ya big changes, Big sad. Honestly the only thing that kept this private server going is probably just the OG's that are die hards for EMC. Honestly, I don't think just voting for EMC on those sites is good enough for marketing. With all the kids not being able to attend school we can expect more new traffic upcoming months. If we don't help those new players then they will just leave ASAP.
I had a friend on Discord message me because he seen I was playing Minecraft cuz of my Game Status. I told him I'm here at Emc.gs. He went through the Tutorial. Said he learned nothing. Didn't know what to do, as it didn't explain a whole lot in the tutorial. He got bored, and signed off 10 minutes later and logged on CS:GO.
Honestly, I'd say get rid of one or 2 of the SMP servers. With so many derelict reses there is likely room for the active players to transfer their res. After that make those open fresh new servers for factions.
Surely this goes without saying, but that would run us into other problems wouldn’t it? I can understand taking a hit to gain a win, but deleting a whole SMP seems like a poor way to treat our fellow members who have spent months, if not years working on frontier “outpost” builds.
I too have done that for years, and although it would be a big loss, I could see myself being onboard for the greater good of the server, but not at the cost of the other half of great friends we lose.
I’m sorry your friend didn’t stay. I haven’t agreed with the tutorial for a while. It has lost its appeal. It has lost vast deposits of crucial information for early players. I don’t think a tutorial should feel forced or drawn out and boring.
Is there not a way to copy and paste an entire area of a map to another server at whatever location desired? Why would it matter if you moved an outpost from one smp to another in whatever location you wanted the outpost to be. You would have to create new rails and roads to get there, but like...what else is there to really do besides build and create new?
I guess it’s never really been balanced between short and helpful, long and confusing, or avoidable altogether. It’s what they wanted though, so it’s what they got. If it were I’d rather have all the brief starter info there where I don’t need to be drawn away to links and back to the game. Hopefully it’ll be made better in the months to come. ✌️
Perhaps there is a way, maybe the numbers of the areas is too great. Idk. I can’t say on that part. I have no idea where the limitations are drawn up to. But there has to be a balance somewhere. Everything has to have a counterweight.
I played plenty of games including this where you invest into something, and it changes and you lose out. That's just how games are. Nothing is going to stay the same forever and be great. If Aikar said we are getting rid of Smp1 and just doing one big server and you are losing your residence. We will give you what we believe is the value and you can start a new. Either roll with the flow or just throw in the towel.
Yup buddy, the cookie doesn’t always crumble the way want it to. I know nothing we can ever make can ever be expected to endure forever. That is our limit. Still gonna stick around to the end. You couldn’t drag me away.
Honestly since I'm a pro builder I wouldn't mind trying to build a new res if that was to happen. Sure it would be a loss, but really...this is a building game basically. Nothing to do except build and kill some monsters lol. What got me into MC was building. Come to find out I am pretty good at it if I put my mind to it. Decided to show off my building skills by making a shop.
