yeah, I saw that translation too. It is nothing like a housewarming though (we have housewarmings too in dutch). It is more like visiting a house when you are going to move and are deciding in what house you want to live, but then it focusses more on your potential new roommates to see if it'd be fun to live with each other for a couple years.

Yeah some homes are indeed like that. It depends a bit though, I've seen a couple where they don't drink or at least just leave it up to you whether you want to drink.
