    Yeah, not surprised. Florida, Texas, and the southwestern states have the North American monsoons. The monsoons mainly happen in summer months, but can (and often do) happen in parts May and September as well. Also been pretty stormy here lately, no relief in sight (thanks humid subtropical climate!).
