Only place I can recall seeing any outdoors in person is Dallas, TX (I've never been near the coast or left the South).

It just amazes me that people have never been to the coast. I guess I'm just used to it having lived here my whole life. As for palm trees, there not really anything that that special. They looks nice enough, but they are kinda plain and all the same. They're also a pain to clean up after.

I know I'm late, but deciduous trees are the worst to clean up after, and they look ugly (in my opinion anyways) when they change to all those colors then eventually shed their ugly Autumn leaves.

Palms, on the other hand, are evergreen, and as with any group of multiple plant species, how much maintenance is necessary depends on the species.
