Latin 1 and 2 made it past the qualifying test, and Latin 3 got cut off. Lydia was upset because of wasted hard work, but she sat in to cheer the twos on- the group that was actually weakest. All week, my memory refused to work, but yesterday, it clicked. Latin 1 was beat by their opponent in the brackets, we beat ours by EIGHTY points.

Why? My memory clicked and I took off! I answered 90% of the questions my team answered, and they answered 90% of the questions. We went up against 2 other schools, and were beat by 30, but Magister was there, cheering us on, happy to see us go so far.

We got home at 1 am Eastern time, just a bit past (midnight here), so I'm extremely tired, and I'm not feeling well, but ACT scores came in, and man I'm too tired from Certamen to be screaming in joy about these, so I'll post in a bit :)

What kind of questions does this certamen have?

A mix of culture, myth, history, and vocab: i covered myth. First round was a lotta myth but there was other stuff in it too that I knew.

Ah, interesting. :) So I suppose it was in a quiz style, where you could discuss with teammates before answering the question(s)?

Not for the tossups, no. But for the bonuses, yup.
