In the ad domini yearcount, year 1 is supposed to be the birth of Christ (that's off, but that doesn't really matter). Year 1 is also the start of the 1st century. Now, it's 2017 AD. That means it's supposedly 2016 years since the birth of Christ. It's also the 21st century. That means 20 centuries have passed. Not 21: 20.
You joined November 15th of 2015. That was the beginning of your first year. In November of 2016, your first year ended and your second year started.
Yesterday, November 15th of 2017, marked your third year.
Can you follow me now? :P
Haha yeah but this isnt my third year. Next year will mark the end of my third year and ill get another trophy π but yes, i do plan to stay for many many more :)
?-? 607 the trophy said 2 years not 3 xD this is the BEGINNING of my third year, but not my third year, because it is not completed yet. This is the completion of my second full year, which is why yesterday marked my second year. It marked the END and completion of it. Next year on 11/15 will be my third year because it will b a complete year (and 2018-2015 is 3 ;) )
Usually, we celebrate the completion of something. Like birthdays. You dont say βthis is the beginning of my 17th year of life, therefore i am 17, not 16β :P you say you turned 16.
Yeah, you're right. It makes no sense that people call them 'birthdays' in English. I'm 18 years old. My 19th birthday was last April.
In Dutch, it _does_ make sense, fortunately.
Language is odd sometimes. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Apparently you're in Neverland currently... that's literally quite close to the Netherlands!
In fact, a drunk Londoner once misunderstood us.
Him: "From Germany?"
Us: "No, we're from the Netherlands."
Him: "Oh, cool, I love Peter Pan!"
