I know its a shame, some people only read quotes as is and don't see the deeper meaning of them. Granted this was a quote delivered by General George Patton on a memorial service for soldiers in 1945. Now "Old Blood and Guts" was seen by some as a controversial figure in his treatment of soldiers, but Patton had a tremendous respect for the men who died.
He expected the best out of every man who served, every man who died he saw as a hero. In the end, George Patton showed us that we should not feel sad that they are gone, rather that we should be thankful that such men lived and sacrificed their lives for this great nation.
