I'll start this with I make straight As, I am currently taking the initiative to lose weight because I know I am overweight and it's unhealthy, and I am in very high-level classes for my grade. Yet my parents and relatives all remain dissatisfied with me for playing video games in my spare time, no matter what I do, and it bothers me. People outside of the gaming community show a lot of ignorance to video games.
There's no leg to stand on - if it is clear that video games don't detract from doing well on your main priorities, then the air being alone is empty.
Some see it as a waste of time, but that's why hobbies differ so much. Reverse roles and you'd probably find their hobbies to be a waste of your time. Does that mean it's not worth anyone's time? I wouldn't say so.
That is true. Hobbies are all different. Throwing around opinions on each others hobbies is quite pointless - having an opinion isn't wrong. But telling someone else their hobby is pointless and will get them nowhere in life is.
