    @Hash; thanks! Not sure if the iPhone will get better without me pouring some cash into it though :P

    @Cami; it's a 32GB iPhone 5, had it for over two years now!

    If you feel comfortable with it, replacing the battery isnt that difficult and you can get them on amazon :P

    I don't have problems replacing the battery, I've changed the battery in an iPhone 5 before :P It's quite cheap so I'm considering it, but I have a strange feeling that it may be something else that is wrong with it, too...

    Might change the battery as first call and see how I am from there? :D

    Well I know the basic layout with the battery, which is just that it connects to the motherboard of the phone, and the charging port connects to that. So I would start there, the batteries in those phones die out so quick :/

    I have had this second battery in for a while now... so it may be worth a shot, but the Apple Support over the internet said that it's possible it could be something else which it would need fixing elsewhere, but I don't know :P

    You'd think so, but this guy was actually rather helpful... I asked how much a battery replacement from them was and it's about $90 (£70 ish), so I said I can do it myself for about $10 (£7) and the guy said yeah, I do it myself too :P He was pretty reasonable while helping and I ended up restoring my phone but it didn't help, so it has to be the hardware ;-;

    I fix iPhones all the times. And people usually come to me when their phone insurance wants to charge them $150 deductable and then wait for their phone, when I can do most phones for $100 bucks and have it done in 2 days (since thats how long the screen takes to get there)

    @Kloned; I have nothing against Samsung, but I do like Apple :P You get well too!

    @Cami; sounds like a good business to get into, I see what you do there... I think I might just have to replace the battery myself on this one and hope for the best, I have a feeling it's going to cost me an arm and a leg if I go to Apple. But then again, they'll probably find the actual problem :P

    Honestly what I do is simple troubleshooting. SO if it were me I would start with the battery, if that doesn't help I would google the problem, see if anyone has some advice. But I would move to the charging dock next, maybe it is going out and not delivering the charge properly to the battery

    It does deliver the charge, it just doesn't update on-screen unless I restart the phone which is really unusual... and it's started doing a funny restart when it's connected in via a cable to my PC 0_e It just randomly restarts itself

    That is a good approach, HxCami10 (what to call you for short?), but sometimes, you just don't want to go through the struggle.

    Seems easy enough, thanks - after looking at google and seeing people with similar problems, their solution was a battery change. I've ordered a new battery, I'll fit that when I get it, and I'll see where we get! :) If that still doesn't work then I may go for the dock after that...

    It's $30 but it also includes all the tools and a pretty nifty guide on how to do it. It's also a lot more trustworthy than ebay and their customer support, I'd imagine, is much better. I've used iFixIt before and it's great :)

    Bit expensive compared to the last battery I fitted, I've fitted it before so I know what I'm doing - thanks for the links though, I'll be sure to grab the guide and have it next to me in case I need any help! :)

    Got my battery off of Amazon in the end, off a seller with good reviews as opposed to all the ones with terrible reviews...

    Yeah, the iFixIt kits are expensive but they include all the tools and it's a lot more user friendly. You should definitely go for the cheaper battery since you know what you're doing and don't need the tools, but still the guide is really helpful because it has lots of pictures and there's also a YouTube version.
