Hey y'all, update: I just had everyone except my Developer drop out on me, so i need lots of help. If you have ANYTHING you are willing to contribute, please send me a PM regarding it. I'd truly appreciate the help.
Without doubt yes, but that is still a long way off. The Dev is still in school, and doesn't want to start making the engine until he is out, which is... next week, i think?
First of all you can't afford to hire me or any other half decent modeler. We need a program called Autodesk Maya to do the best work and do the best animations. You need a much bigger budget to make a decent 3D game unfortunately. It should also not require a custom engine, as an engine requires YEARS to make, let alone the skill needed to make it. If you expand your budget and move to a prebuilt engine maybe you have a shot. But with the topic you have chosen it will be an uphill battle.
You think i don't know that? I'm not looking for a AAA grade modler, because I can't afford them, you are correct on that. However, this is not a AAA game. If you don't want to work for me, ok, I really don't care. I'm learning to do modeling and animation myself to see if i can do them without having to rely on other people. And no, the engine will not take years to make, because this IS NOT a AAA COMPANY!. I'm pretty sure you are thinking that i'm planning to build this AMAZING game that blows Evil within, Resisdent Evil, and other games like that away, but i know my limitations, and one of them is my budget. Mate, If all you're going to do is tell me I'm going to fail, try to explain to me what i need, and tell me i don't know what i'm getting myself into, then please stop posting. I KNOW what i've gotten myself into. I KNOW how much this large of a project is, and I KNOW this will be so much more difficult because i have so little resources. Anyways, i'm not looking for people who are experts in this and have been doing this for years (Except my Developer, he is God sent lol), i'm looking for people who are willing to share what they know, little or small, to assist me in this. If they want to offer crappy animations that look choppy and stiff, then i'll accept them!
I'm not trying to say you are going to fail. And I know you don't want to pull off the best game out there. But what I am saying is your topic is overused and slightly bland in its use. Just a warning, I am talking from true experience. And I am just saying $100 won't even get a game on Greenlight. I just don't want you to put your money and time into a ship that is just a small boat that needs to cross the Atlantic. Cause with the title you are trying to do, that is what you are going to have to do.
Overused and Bland? I know. But look at all those games out there that have succeeded, and they barely made it "Interesting" or "Unique" If i can take the topic, and make it my own, give it a nice little twist that no one has seen before, then people will become interested in it. A good mix of story and gameplay (If both done well or decent), will make my game sell.
Never said it wouldn't. And who is going to write the story? They suceeded because they were AAA studios to begin with. 7 Days to Die is a nice exception. They have the zombies going for them, but then again they have also been around for a bit. The story and gameplay are crucial. You get both of those perfect, then your game will sell, and in a big way. I just urge you to change topics because of how overburdened the genre has become.
Before the Co-dev left, we wrote a good part of the story, so while i did end up changing it a little bit, i'm not scrapping the entire idea, because i have a few things that are unique to the Zombie genre, as well as a story that follows it.
I will be in about 3 weeks. Unless you want to see a barely working animation that is not yet finished and a sword that isn't properly textured.
How would you like it if I brought some guys who know some C++ and another really talented modeler and animator? (We all had a week of instruction with our fields and these people are the top of their respective classes. It still wouldn't be great, but it would be better than nothing.)
I'm interested to see how this plays out. I won't be helping you, though, as I've never liked a Zombie themed game (not meant to insult at all, it's just not my thing).
Good luck with this, Jct Unfortunately I can't help, and I fear that this might not be the best place to look for developers. We have a fair amount of skilled people here, but I do hope that you're looking everywhere else as well
I am scrambling around trying to find people, but its hard to find people who take what i'm doing seriously, and who won't charge 500$ for a few models :/
Sorry, been so wrapped up in other things i forgot to log back into EMC But yes, everything is going well. The game Engine is being built, i found a new co-dev and we're writing the script together, i have 4 modelers, 3 of which are willing to work for free (And one of them makes his own textures), I have a sound manager who is willing to make AND edit sounds for free, I have concept art done, and i'm planning a kickstarter and website with another person, also for free. The only thing i REALLY need is 3D animators. If anyone wants to assist, please, feel free to get in touch with me.
that's great! Let me know when you get the kickstarter started and I'll try and help out My fiance owns an independent game company and I'm part of his team so I know how hard it is to get things started so I'll help support you guys Good luck!
