Why is it that threads can't stay on topic?

I'm not tech savvy in the least, but staying with the theme of 40% of this thread as "not really on topic"... When considering wild resets, the idea of having 2 wilds is great. However, if that proves too taxing on the servers to manage, is it feasible to make claimed wild land impervious to resets? As in, when the wild is reset, the Egg claimed sections be omitted from such a reset, stored someplace, and reloaded in their original form post-reset (obviously with a buffer around it of about 50 blocks so the claim isn't setup inside an Epic Mountain, eg)? [Feel free to ignore this til the Wild Update thread appears]

The whole idea here is awesome! I don't go into the wild much, but I'm going to start soon, and having destinations 10k out would make for fun little adventures. One other idea I had is to put in place a server-wide announcement when someone is close to or finds an Arena portal ("An arena portal on smp6 has been found!" - but don't say who found it). Seeing that pop up would get people at the ready to go find it themselves, or band together to murder the dragon. Kind of a "stop doing what you're doing... get to that Arena portal, everyone!" announcement.

It's not if the servers can handle the extra load. Currently the EMC "servers" are running on 6 physical servers. That means that there are 2 EMC "servers" per physical server except for utopia. Utopia is sharing its server with square and other things like the cross-server vault. IF extra wilds were added they could order more powerful servers or put each EMC "server" on it's own physical server. The issue about adding more wilds is if it would be possible to do without the financial cost of the physical servers far exceeding what money is brought in by supporters. So from what I understand, the point to take from this is, if you can afford to do so, DONATE or up your membership level so EMC can become even more AWESOME.

As stated approximately 40 times in this thread, the buffer before land claiming will be so far out, you shouldn't run into any problems like this. Even so, an area that is claimed will be effectively identical to an area that has already been mined, as either way you will not have access to the resources there. It isn't going to effect your resource mining in any noticeably different fashion.
