Help name the new pup!

  1. Moose and I knew when getting our Great Pyrenees that we wanted one more dog to round out our fur family. We'll we've found him and now we need to think of a name while we await everything to be finalized. Here's where you come in.

He's a rescue pup. Found on an abandoned piece of property, an amazing rescue group saved him and his litter-mates, along with many other dogs. It appeared to be an animal dumping ground, so no one actually knows what he is exactly, but he appears at least part Newfoundland, so he'll be a big boy.

In the picture, you can see faintly his amazing heterochromia idiris in his left eye. The outer half is brown, while the inside half has remained blue. He's only 7 weeks old in the picture above that I took this weekend when meeting him and his foster mom. He's got a grey coat with one small patch of white on his chest.

So that's it for story time. Those that are familiar with our fur family know that all our fur babies have names that start with Z. We'd like to continue that for the handsome boy above. So please, help us brainstorm. =) (and awww over his cute face)

I also posted this to my status, but please post here as well to give Moose and I a wide range of names to look at and choose from. (and because I wanted to share the pic)

    Current fur family:
    Zelda
    Zoidberg
    Zara
  2. The only name I can think of at the moment that starts with a 'Z' (besides Zelda) is that of my best friend (one of my best friends, I suppose, but there's a word in Dutch that translates to 'best friend'), Zavanne. :)
  3. Zegg

  4. Here are a few interesting Z names.
    1. Z'ev which means wolf
    2. Zaakir which means grateful, since he's a rescue.
    3. And Zanell meaning mixed because of the dogs eyes
These were ok-ish names, but you said you wanted lots of ideas

  5. Ahw what a cutie :D.

The first name that popped into my head was Zafier / Zavier. I don't know honestly if that would sound about the same in English as in Dutch, or if there would be any variant on it.
It is quite an uncommon name, but I know a guy who is called that so that's why I thought of that one :)
  6. I'm thinking Zinc

"Zinc is a bluish-silver, lustrous metal.."
  7. Awww, that's cute.

  11. Why does it need to be a Z name?

  13. Man there’s a bunch of good suggestions, but if you want another name to consider you could name him Zeren.

Hm, that reminds me... I got to check if there’s a thread dedicated to pet pictures...

  14. Oooh, I read that those were the candidates for names.

    Zee

    Zane

  16. There's only about a couple dozen Latin words starting with a 'z'. :p I've found Zelus, but that means 'jealousy', so that doesn't sound too nice... There's also Zythum, which means 'beer'. :p

  17. That doesn't sound right... *looks it up* "malt-liquor"
    Ew.
    But yeah, I know, that's why it's a struggle...

  18. How about Zeno or Zakuno?
Or maybe Zazz from Sonic Lost World?
    How is Zeta or Zeke?
Ok last batch I can think of...
How about Zeus or Zaptus or Zetta or Zoom?

I have a few extra but I will leave this list as of now
