  1. Welcome to the forum page for the first annual Parkour of Servers competition!

Major Changes to Event Formatting to Come Soon. Anything you read under those sections are subject to change.

I've been gradually preparing and greatly anticipating this event for quite a while. EMC has a great reputation for having loads of parkour courses and the competition that I am announcing today introduces a new type of racing to that mix: A team competition. Namely, a team that is composed of players from each server, who all converge on a single parkour course to compete both as individuals and as representatives for their server. For the first time ever, the winner the parkour event is not necessarily the first to the finish. With rupee prizes for every team competitor (and promos for individual winners), regardless of their team's performance, I hope you will consider participating. Please read each of the spoilers below to get an idea of how all this is going to work.

The Parkour of Servers is a team parkour competition, composed of a 3-member team from each of the 9 Smp servers and Utopia, for a total of 30 competitors. The racing will take place on Course 1 (which can be practiced) of the 3794 Parkour Facility on Smp2, accessible through the command "/v 3794 parkour" or by stepping on "Res Teleports" at the entrance to my residence. Course 1 is the longest course in the facility, made up of intermediate jumps of varying difficulty, complete with small mazes and lane splits in certain spots, but its technical difficulty isn't anything crazy; the experienced parkour player will have no trouble completing this course. There are no checkpoints, once you fail you restart the entire course until the race's end.

Each race lasts 30 minutes and all competitors begin simultaneously. Your goal is to win and be the first one to finish the course obviously, but every competitor is scored on their position amongst the competitors at the race's conclusion. This event is not all about being the first one to finish (although finishing the course 1st "winning" obviously wins your team the max points), rather you want to place yourself in a good position at the end of the 30 mins to earn a solid placement for your team (a player who is 3/4 of the way finished the course at the end of the race will score better than a player 1/4 of the way finished). This process will repeat two times for a total of 3 races that determine each Smp's score in a race, with the only change between the races being the lineup of the team members, who each race 2 out of the 3 races and serve as an alternate in the race they aren't in. I could go on and on, but I'll let anyone curious about the exact breakdown of the racing format view the official rules and procedures document.

    Eligibility & Registration
There is one criterion for serving as a member on your server-team: You must hold a residence on the server that you are wanting to compete for (players who own a residence on multiple servers are eligible to enter for one of the servers that they hold a residence on). No age limit on EMC or well-reputed parkour skills are required to indicate your interest. Speaking of indicating interest, replying to this thread with an indication of what server you want to represent is how you register! Once each server-team has 3 members (this number is subject to change if this post gains a lot of attention) who have indicated their interest via this forum post, the team's "roster" is considered full, as they will be the ones who will be contacted via PM a week before the event with a reminder of their registration. However if you're late to the thread, do not be discouraged. Those who still reply to this thread requesting to represent a server after their given team is full will be the first ones asked to participate for no-shows and for teams that are in need of players (if its necessary). Plus you never know, I've got three other courses to debut at some point, and by no means are most my dedicated "prize" funds devoted to just the team event :).
    Day/Time & Location
As mentioned earlier, this event is held at 3794 on Smp2: Course 1. The full racing schedule can be viewed on the document linked in the "Race Format" spoiler, but all interested competitors must be available from 3:30-6:30 EMC Time on the planned date of 11/24 (Black Friday) or 12/26 (day after Xmas), which serves as a backup. My rationale behind these two dates is that dates immediately before/after holidays tend to be days where interested competitors are either a for sure "in" or "out", as school and work will likely not be a factor for these two dates. These two dates are also the most likely that I as the event host can safely say that I'll be available, as I'm unavailable during the week with school and my weekends usually have something unexpected come up, I plan on delivering in making sure that this event happens with full participation to my best ability. There's a reason for why I'm posting this thread 6 weeks in advance: If you are interested, please respond regardless of what the latest count of registered players are for team. For any competitor who doesn't show up, replacements will be sought out server-to-server in-game (with first preference to forum responders) in the minutes leading up to the first race to ensure that each team has a full roster. Anyone is invited to come, and chances are there will be some sort of race that day which allows everyone to participate, it may just not be the Parkour of Servers Event ;).

A total of 90k in Rupees and 4 2014 Holiday Candles encompass the funds for the Parkour of Servers out of me, and any donations will also be added to the prize pool in some form. There's all kind of awards out there that go along with racing multiple races that can be proven through statistics (such as most consistent, most improved, etc) that could be provided by donors (who also can register as competitors if they wish :)), and it would be awesome to see every single competitor walk away with something that's more than a portion of the Rupees available in the 90k pool. At bare minimum, every competitor wins a Rupee prize. You can view the full breakdown of how the prizes are distributed amongst the competitors in the document linked under the "Race Format" spoiler.

    Confirmed Competitors:
    Sportaflop, Sydney4363, jewel_king

This spoiler will contain live written updates, such as race summaries and results, on the day of the race. Nothing to put in here right now!

I hope you've enjoyed reading and are excited about this unique team competition. It's been quite a while since I've found the time to pull one of these guys off, with my first competition being in 2013 (debut of Course 1) and my most successful parkour competition in 2014 (which followed a similar race format). Both were high-profile events and with the well-reputed status of many of EMC's members, I'm sure this event will be even better. This event is also an indicator of major things to come in terms of my involvement, preparations for my mall opening at the same res are underway and are scheduled to be completed around New Years. Thanks for reading, I look forward to your reply! :D

  12. I would like to participate, only the time doesn't come out for me (That's 1AM my time)...
Good luck with your event though :)
  13. Thanks for checking it out. Future races of mine will take place at different times as well, so hopefully you'll get the opportunity to race sometime soon
  14. To those who have expressed interest, thank you. The event is going to be pushed back to an alternate date sometime in late December due to scheduling obligations. In addition, significant changes to its formatting will be announced soon to promote more interest, starting with the abandonment of the team format, as it is currently rather complicating for a relatively simple concept. Thanks for your cooperation.
  15. I'd like to play for smp2 if I can (as Sportaflop) but I didn't read much of this

  16. I'm abandoning the team format of the event. But I'll put you on the pre-registered list :)
  17. If someone could please close this thread, that'd be great. I'm planning a new event that I'd like to simply start over on that I'll be posting the details on this weekend. For those who are on the pre-registered list, I haven't forgotten about you! I will remind you guys when the new thread is up. ;) New parkour event will take place at a time when I am more likely to be available to host it and will be in a much simpler format. Thanks
  18. report the thread to close it
