Hello all, first post here for me! I'd like to build an AFK mob grinder (to farm gunpowder, arrows and such) that works decently well but I understand EMC has specific spawning rules to limit lag, so not sure if any "normal" design would work. Anyone has tips, or a link to some guide that has designs that works decently on EMC? Thanks! F
In that case I'll start off with: Welcome to the Empire! Hope you're going to have a great time here, as you probably have noticed by now EMC is a bit different and special in comparison to other servers, it can also be a bit difficult on some points, but that that's what this forum is for Normal designs should work easily, the main thing to keep track of is the so called entity count. Use /entc wherever you are and you'll see what I mean. A good place to check for the differences between EMC and vanilla gameplay is the wiki, check out this page: https://empireminecraft.com/wiki/changes-from-vanilla-minecraft/ An important detail is the spawning distance: 128blocks vanilla vs. 64 blocks on EMC. Another is the render/view distance being 6 chunks although that will probably not have a direct affect considering that 6 * 16 = 96 and the spawn distance is 64. But overall: vanilla designs should work just fine.
@ShelLuser, thanks a lot for your warm welcome! I already feel at home in EMC. I have read the specifics of EMC compared to vanilla and appart from the spawning distance of 64 blocks, the density check being the strangest aspect. I understand that: - The entity count thing should be no problem if you make your mob grinder in the middle of the ocean. - If there can be only two spawns in a 20x20x16 cluster, it might break most compact designs unless you have a system that quickly kills or flushes mobs away from the spawning cluster. Am I right? Anyone know of specific designs that works well in that regard?
