Heard of, not used. I'm a 3D Studio Max guy, but from what little I understand, those tend to be for taking a single, decently-rendered picture of a given scene. Like a 3D diorama, with plentiful marketplaces for you to buy (or sell) your component pieces. Since the stuff I focus on is primarily for animated, rather than static use, I've never had any compelling reason to look into it seriously. I have periodically poked my nose into the forums, mostly just to lurk, laugh at the people still whining about the same problems, and remind myself why I bailed. Oh hell yes. The final straw was a very large image of a middle finger, and the words "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?!" That, along with some other users, also resulted in the use of <img> tags being disabled everywhere but the Screenshots sub-forum. But as for your idea of damage control... no. To frame the circumstances better, the first Community Manager I remember was 'eatwithspoons,' who was pretty amazing at what he did. He managed to be open, honest, and communicative with the playerbase while still diffusing the situations upper management caused. Then one day, he mysteriously disappeared, and we got FrankieRaye instead. This guy was like Spoons' polar opposite, and pretty much the textbook definition of "corporate shill." He could not give a straight answer if his life depended on it, would avoid or ignore issues even if directly addressed, only ever seemed to respond with the most canned, generic, useless answers conceivable... it was like dealing with a politician running for office. Now in fairness, his bosses / upper management didn't help at all. CM was the lowest rung on the totem pole and expected to clean up the mess and keep the players happy while the Sales/Marketing guys were busy bending both player and game alike over the table. Bottom line, banning that forum identity (permanently or otherwise) was purely reactionary, and didn't help the situation one bit, long or short term. Thankfully, Aikar and Krysyy have shown themselves to be much better at listening when players get upset. Glad you found it enlightening Shel. Though I think people might be placing a bit to much value on what I 'like' or comment on
Oh my... I get the feeling that I'm meeting a whole new Kephras here Ha, ha, amazing. And nah, of course I am joking a little bit up there but it is true: I would never have imagined you to pull off any stunts like that I'm picturing you more as someone who'd burn someone to the ground through words & reasoning. Then again, sometimes you can reach a point where you run into a brick wall and reasoning and such only get you so far. But that's usually a moment where I've already said my goodbyes and wished 'm luck with their Titanic voyage Of course then you sometimes look back, say 3 - 4 months later, and you see that what you feared came true and then you suddenly feel a bit sad. But oh well, c'est la vie. So much this... Yeah. OMG, Kephras liked my enlightenment! (sorry, sorry, sorry! ) But yeah, thanks for your comment!
I think I know that feeling. And then you may be like "What if I had stayed? Would it have been gone down with me, or would it have been saved?"
Marie says "No stalking my boyfriend. Only I'm allowed to do that." Kephras could not be reached for comment, as he is currently hiding.
tee hee! We only stalk his posts and I must say.. it's his own fault. If he were not such an awesome writer we wouldn't need to stalk him. well... he's also a tiger soo there's that. Who could resist a tiger that writes so well?
