What's Up With Enraged Mobs Spawning In Water Near Monuments?

  1. The title says it all. Has anyone else noticed this? Enraged zombies and skeletons are bobbing all around where monuments are. And the obvious other question. How do I farm this?

  3. Not sure you can - I just go out and murder them all for their delicious tokens and loot. :)

  4. Problem is you're getting zapped in the butt by the guardians at the same time.

  5. Ya, but it just helps me get to the mobs easier. :)

  7. I've seen this myself from ocean monuments. I honestly don't know how they're spawning where there isn't any dry ground nearby. All non-aquatic mobs cannot normally spawn in water, excluding monster spawner blocks.
  8. There's been several occasions where I've spotted them floating up to the top from about 10-15 blocks down. I'm wondering if either they're spawning into a cave system under the monument and going upward, or if they're spawning in the water itself.
  9. I want to figure out a way to capitalize on it but if it's a glitch that will be corrected I don't want to waste my time.
  10. My theory is that its not a bug but since it's a deep ocean biome and there's less places for mobs to spawn, the few places where mobs do spawn you notice enrageds more than regular mobs. But hey, I have no idea what I'm talking about!!

  11. Is it only monuments it's happening at?

They replace the spawn of a monster, and I thought of same type but if I didn't restrict type them replacing Guardian makes sense
  12. si
  13. Far as I can see. I've seen enraged spawn rates as high as six per night (though always skeles and zombies, never creepers). I'm lucky to get two per night anywhere else.
  14. Yes, that would explain it. Very interesting.
  15. Ok I can confirm this was the case. I need to exclude water mobs.
