I'm not sure if I've already started a thread on this, but I couldn't find it in 'My Content' list, so here goes. Started this as a public service project, and wanted to make it look kinda cool. Due to how close it is to Town (literally 30s walk from town), it gets a lot of newbie traffic, and is griefed often (several times a week). It requires constant upkeep. How do i get there? 1. Enter SMP5 town (/smp5) 2. Enter the Nether spawn (/nether) 3. Follow the only main path EAST until you see a Nether Portal (when not griefed, there is a sign saying public iron farm). 4. Enter Nether Portal. 5. You've arrived. 6. Go down nearby ladder to the bottom to use iron farm. Iron Farm Collection area. Some aerial views, for ground views, you can visit it. Oops, how that pic of Maxarias building a dirt house get in there? BONUS Skeleton Grinder Conveniently located a short walk north from the Iron Farm. Here are some pics. Head NORTH out of the Iron Farm Walls. And keep going until you see the tree lined pathway. At the end is a ladder down.
I am curious how the Red Button works to contact you? Also, is that two enderchests placed side by side?
Ok, so I went to smp5. Went to town. Walked 30 seconds. No luck. Walked around all the edges of town (took much longer than 30 seconds). No luck. I may just keep taking a bunch of 30 second walks!
It does look like there are 2 enderchests side by side but, if u look at the stone slab beside it, u will notice its only a single chest. just gives u an illusion i guess
lol I was wondering how long it'd take someone to have this problem. Thought he farm is public, I haven't said how to get there huh? To more precise, it's 30s walk from nether spawn. + one more command from town to get to nether spawn And I suggest you pick carefully which way you wander in the nether, just IMHO. Edited OP: How do i get there? 1. Enter SMP5 town (/smp5) 2. Enter the Nether spawn (/nether) 3. Its always nice to see players building Public Farms, Hope this will help lots of people and give them a chance to get a bunch of iron without spending hours making one. But better hurry as when 1.8 comes it will take longer, I made a 1.8 iron farm on emc, does not work but will when 1.8 comes out. It took me about 3 days to make, and wow is there ever so much more than the old farms, haha.
Glad to see there are more farms appearing to make all of them overall less crowded I also love all your builds and that they are on the best smp ever smp5
Ah, I didn't want to use the farm, I was going to change my skin to a couple iron blocks and wait around in the corner for some nefarious player to come at me with a picaxe. Then I would let out some giggles as they poke me with their picaxe! No iron for you today! So, all you good players, pay no attention to that stack of iron blocks sitting in that there corner. No, those are not eyes in the iron blocks...not at all.
I'll have to check this out I used to use the public one in the wild on 5, but after the last major grief it's just too much of a hassle :/ Nice to see you back Scruffy ^_^
Looks like it is quite good looking to, cant wait to go and get some iron, the only use is for pistons and hoppers(for me) but hey why not
No, well sort of. check out the pic with the signs in it. you'll see how it works. it's free iron while you stand on pressure plate.
well i figured it was 750+ per hour.. but it changes.. todo with multiplayer village mechanics.. can only have so many active villages in a world at once basically... ask chickeneer he's the expert.
1.8 is a long way off on EMC, trust me and the farm is easily converted to 1.8 once it comes out. no problem.
It is totaly different in 1.8 as the villagers read the doors different, I have tested the farms and 1.7 iron farm in 1.8 on sp alone is less than 90% productive than before, I have designed one that is very fast,
The Red Button is for a [message] sign (see Feature Signs), which gives you a message in chat including a link to open a convo with me on forums.
ah ok. well when 1.8 is released, i'll look into the new mechanics. i'm in no hurry. and it's not like i'm going to tear it down to build another is it? i'll just build another. Or then again... perhaps I will.
