  1. The news is real and it's a new day in the world of Minecraft. I see hundreds of speculative comments about what could happen or what Microsoft will do. I see this as perfect time to stop wondering and come right out and tell Microsoft what we want; Otherwise how will they know. You can be sure if we don't tell them, that the outcome won't be what we are hoping for.

What are your top 5 questions and what answer do you want?

  2. I really do think that the EULA changes being removed or at least modified would be a good change. I know why Mojang put it in place, but it really damaged the community, especially one so tight-knit as EMC

  3. 1. How is the purchase going to affect the coding team and consequently the releases and features?
    2. Are they going to make a new EULA, support servers making money or stick with the current one and enforce the rules?
    3. Do they plan on charging for new features at all in the future?

That's what I'm wondering for now.
  4. I hope the EULA disapears, and the coding team improves a little! Hope microsoft does good.
  5. 1) They'll probably keep it the same and maybe add new developers to speed up development.
    2) Microsoft will probably read through EVERYTHING to make sure they're not liable for anything but also so they have control over the game
    3) Not sure. It'd be a stupid move and I don't think Microsoft would do that.

Well, I am hoping for a Canvas to paint/draw on.

  7. You know... because Microsoft now will own Minecraft, this means that .net frameworks might be used instead of just java :3 ... imagine how all the people that do plugins will react.

New owner means newer Eula - considering notch was the initial writer, if ownership changes, it's now void, isn't that correct?

Cross platforming is possible, but since Microsoft is in charge of 360 and XboxOne... but not PS3 or PS4 ... wouldn't the cross platforms be an issue there?
  8. How long would that take though? Would Microsoft even want to attempt that?

Microsoft will most likely remove the EULA and replace it was a terms and conditions. EULA's don't stand a chance in the European Court (example by EA).

Microsoft may just keep them alive *for now*. We don't have any idea how competitive Microsoft is going to be now they own the largest PC game. Will they add this to their side of the console wars?
  9. Not sure what language the xbox version is written in, but I don't think it's java. It is likely a completely different development branch.

No, the owner is still Mojang, but Microsoft owns Mojang. They can change or not change if they want.

The largest issue is permission to connect. The pc version has more features, so a separate client version would need to be made, but that is not the issue holding it back.

All good questions and comments in general. I will be linking this post to some people at sponge because they may have the most pull as anyone currently and I would like them to start thinking about their role in negotiating terms.

If Microsoft says NO to everything on the list, I'm sure it will determine some of the future of the Sponge project.
  10. If I remember correctly, It was XNA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_XNA
But I don't believe XNA is supported anymore.
