?

Is this a good promo idea?

Nope 8 vote(s) 61.5%
  1. You did kinda say that remembrance day was more important
  2. I think that person was only making an analogy because someone before him said that the 5th of november didn't mean much either.

Yes that sounds like a good idea, maybe there could be a way to determine which holiday would be most popular amongst the English, like a poll or some sort of dialogue with the community.
Anyways, it's all cool. Ultimately it's up to EMC staff to decide to make promos for which holidays. I just didn't think belittling American and UK holidays back and forth was a good idea.
  3. I'm not denying that Remembrance Day would be a better day for this, I just don't think that this should be down-played so much. It wasn't just "a house almost being blown up", it was very near the complete destruction of not just the place of power, but the people of power of the strongest nation at the time.

  4. EMC is a US server, if they celebrated one other countries holidays, they'd have to celebrate all of the other holidays. It's not a matter of which they think of as more important, but they just can't celebrate them all.
  5. I think we should celebrate a day in honor of Vasili Arkhipov, he also avoided a disaster. The entire world would have been a different place without him.
  6. I remember that, I did a report on the Cuban Missile Crisis and was amazed at how close the world actually came to WWIII
  7. however when was the last British promo?

  8. I just want to add on, I am American, but I realize how many British players EMC has, and this is probably their biggest celebration of the year. Even if you don't think the history behind it is worth celebrating, it's a big deal in Britain. If we celebrate 4th of July, I think it would be nice if we also had something for all the British members of EMC.

  9. We don't need to be arguing about these(equally important) holidays and if this was a British server we might be celebrating British holidays if we where a Russian server we would be celebrating their holidays and so on but it just so happens that we are a American server so I honk we should just rename items and sell them in your player shop up there not really promos but they are acted like promos

  10. Wipple5 I have taken a look at Guy Fawkes Night and it has some strong sectarian history. Today it is just an excuse to for fireworks and lighting a bonfire, but it was very anti-catholic. Traditionally the effigy that is burned on top of the bonfire is not of Guy Fawkes but of the Pope (sometimes with live cats inside the burning effigy). It is called Pope day in other countries for this reason. While I doubt you celebrate Guy Fawkes Night with any sectarian thoughts, there are other who do. Given the history of the event and it's proximity to Hallowe'en I don't see us having it as a EMC event.
You are, of course, welcome to celebrate it yourself.

  11. Agreed. Reading through this, it doesn't sound fair to have Promos only for America and yet when other countries want promos they are told no. One or two from other places couldn't hurt now could it? I don't mean piddly little days, but huge ones like Kwanzaa, Hanukkah etc.

  12. when was the last swedish promo?
    or brazilian?
    or australian?
We have players from all over the world.

This is my case in point that not all holidays can be celebrated with promos.
Let it be noted however that I never said there wouldn't be flags. Flags are not promos and do not count as promos on the server. Case in point: Canada Day resulted in a Canada Flag....

  13. Kwanzaa and Hanukah fall under the Holiday Promos like last year's pick and rudolph...

  14. They were just examples that came to mind, Using the general "Holiday" is what I had in mind, I wasn't here during that time, I was internetless. But good to know. :)

  15. No problem. And just so that you are aware, we do not celebrate many "amercian holidays"

    Our normal promo list:
    New Years
    Valentine's Day
    July 4th
    Halloween
    Thanksgiving
    Holidays

i might be missing one or two, but I think that's the big ones

  16. Holidays? So are the other "holidays" not holidays? :p
  17. "holidays" is meant to represent christmas, hanukkah, kwanza, boxing day, etc that all fall around the same time.

Every heard the saying Happy Holidays? That's what I mean...
