A.D.D / A.D.H.D ?

  1. If you don't know what it is, check this out first: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention_deficit_hyperactivity_disorder

Whether you have it, think you have it, are curious about it, or don't know what it is, you might find this interesting and heavily inspiring.

I am always told that I "suffer" from A.D.H.D. People have no idea what they say when they use the words "suffer" and "A.D.H.D." in the same sentence. They always say things like "I feel so sorry for you." I always look at them and ask why they are "sorry", and it usually goes like the video posted below. The thing is, I don't take medication for it, and I don't feel ashamed of having it. Heck, my grades in school are actually very good, because I force myself to work as hard as I possibly can.
But is that why people think ADD/ADHD is a "disorder"? Just because of it's "negative" effects?

Take some time to watch this video below. He explains absolutely everything better than anyone I have ever known.

As he says in the video, and I agree 100%, that my ADHD is a gift. People spend too much time worrying about the negative aspects of things. They never realize the positive outcome! I decided to take a little quiz and see how my scoring went. Of course, I am not surprised of my outcome.

You can take this test here if you are interested: http://psychcentral.com/addquiz.htm

I find everything he says in that video true. It's the reason I do what I do, for people and myself. Things can still be difficult, but as time progresses, I learn to conquer many of the symptoms.

So now I wonder, in a game with such creativity and spur of the moment ideas such as minecraft..

All I have to say anymore, is that I embrace my ADHD as a gift and a uniqueness. It's not a disorder.

Who else has, or thinks they have ADD/ADHD? What are your experiences with having it? I saw this years ago and had this attitude about it since then, but had the thought of posting this now. After hearing his words, what do you think?

  12. I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child, and back then it caused me some issues. As I grew older, I didn't so much grow out of it as I learned how to work with it such that I can function in a semi-normal manner. Willpower is a lot to do with it for me, especially as I have no desire to use any sort of medication to "control" it. It's also been suggested (though I've never been tested) that I may also have Asperger's Syndrome. *shrugs*

Just for the giggles, the test scored me at 81.

  18. The same with me. The only difference is the fact that I am insanely hyper all the time when compare to them. :D
