Movies everyone should see.

  1. So, I've recently discovered that my girlfriend (krysyyjane9191) has pretty much been locked in the closet for her whole life regarding movies. I've made it a personal goal to change that.

It originally started talking about midnight releases of movies, and that I had gone to the dark knight release at 12:01. She had never seen the dark knight. That's understandable, I thought, since its pretty new and its action based.

What I've recently discovered is that she pretty much missed out on all of the good movies of the last twenty years. I made the reference this morning of "my precious" and asked where it was from. She guessed Star Wars. I've determined she hasn't seen Star Wars , Lord of the Rings, Shawshank Redemption, Tombstone; I've started making a list, but sitting down and trying to think of movies you have to see I only come up with a couple every now and then.

I'd really like to see what everyone else thinks is a movie everyone should see, whether it's a personal favorite or a classic.

Below is a list of movies I've come up with, with a (watched) next to them if she has seen them now.

    Jurassic Park (watched)
    Dark Knight (watched)
    Terminator 1 and 2 (watched)
    Tombstone
    Star Wars
    Lord of the Rings
    Shawshank Redemption
Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead

  6. Bwahahaha you will not stop watching movies if you are going to watch all good movies :D

There is one movie I always suggest "Remember Me". It is no action movie ofc, but sure gives something to think about. And makes you think about how to treat the people around you and to appreciate every single day.

    Carpe Diem!

I could think of alot more but I don't have time to write them all.

Let put it this way I go to the movies 4 or 5 times a month....
  8. Anyone who liked the Dark Knight should watch Batman Begins. What a great movie.
I would start spewing more lists but I'm at school and I don't have time.
  9. To add to the list movies that are often forgotten yet are awesomely funny.

Pretty much all the movies staring Leslie Nielsen. And I mean staring. Since hes been in a lot of movies but not the main character and some of those were kinda junky ones (such as the movie "scary movie" idk remember what number but he was in it and it still stunk).

A good reference are the "naked gun" movies. Very funny even if they are old already.
  10. These are not in order, but are the best of the best in my opinion (and i watch tons of movies).
    2001 space odessy (sci fi)
Good the Bad the Ugly (epic western)
    Blade Runner (sci fi)
    Metropolis (1927 silent)
Catch me if you can (thriller/mystery)
    Forrest Gump (just plain great)
    Pulp Fiction/Reservoir Dogs (...Pulp fiction)
A Bridge too far (ww2 miltary - with the best cast EVER)
    Meet Joe Black (Romance)
    The 6th Sense (Thriller/Horror/Suspense)
    The Godfather pt1-2 (Mob crime)
    Fight Club (Action/Mind ____)
    Memento (Indescribable/ Mind ___)
    Alien (Sci fi/horror)
    American History X (Crime/Social Commentary?)
    The Departed (Crime)
    The Prestige (Suspense)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Silly)
    Snatch (British Comedy)
if you need more just ask, happy movie watching!
  11. Hence "Airplane!"
"I'm serious. And don't call me Shirley."
  12. Roger your vector Vicktor
  13. Um he wasn't really the star of that movie. And even though that movie has its funny points I never did find it really funny. Also I know he wasn't the start since that was the first movie he was in where he played the part of a serious funny person which before all he did was serious roles. Which turned out to be where he shined :D
  14. Thanks everyone! There's a bunch on here I definitely forgot about, looks like our netflix and blockbuster subscriptions will be getting a work out!
  15. no one mentioned the harry potter series? Take her to the hungergames, there good

  17. Yes, he wasn't the star, but he delivered a good chunk of the funny lines. And it isn't a REALLY funny movie as a whole, but the individual punch lines are the best.
I personally find all of the Matrices other than the first one to be quite unappealing.
