  1. Hello everyone! I've been on this server for a little over 2 years now and I would like to finally post my first thread! :D I was sitting in tech class today when we were learning about Excel and how to use it. I was really interested in it and I learned alot. Then, when I was at home today thinking about what to do on Minecraft when it finally hit me. I should make an Excel file with every shops items and prices in it and post it to forums! The things I learned today would make it a PIECE OF CAKE to pull this idea off.
So I looked all over forums for anything like this, a document with SMP3's shops on it comparing the prices. I couldn't find a thing! I was so happy until the people put me down. No one seemed interested in this idea, even if they didn't have to lift a finger! Only one person on SMP3 joined in with gratitude (LuckyPat). Everyone else just ignored me.
So that's why I'm am here. To talk to you guys, the people of the every Empire Minecraft Server. Is it worth it? Should I go through the trouble every week of updating it and posting a new one? Am I coping any body I missed? Is it every allowed?
Thanks for reading and please give your honest opinion :)
  2. I would say this is a brilliant idea, with this in place we can watch the economy rise and fall!
  3. *Shop Owner Reads
*Shop Owner Plots To Kill Natesam

Every shop owner on EMC will hate this idea but it would be interesting to compare all the prices and see which shop is actually the cheapest although some shops have multiple chests with different prices on each chest so I dunno how you would work that out :p
  4. I think this would be really helpful, but I think it might be more difficult than you're expecting. While the actual Excel part will be pretty straightforward, collecting all that data is going to be very difficult. There's tons of shops spread out across all 10 servers, most selling more than a hundred different items. The shear time it would take to just record all those prices would be a lot.
  5. Thanks guys for the replies and I'm trying to get in contact with Haerhitman right now :) If you would like to help me with this project, please get in touch with me soon! I cant do this on my own!
  6. Decent idea, I think it's a waste since prices keep changing. Whatever I think doesn't matter anyway! So Go For It Dude!
  7. Thanks Todd for the support! I got time to spare and I'm working on getting the shops of SPM3 first, updating it every week :)

  8. If you need any help, I can try! :)
  9. I'm pretty semi-decent with Excel. I could help work with smp8 (which will probably have only like 5 points of data for each item but that's besides the point :p) and maybe compile it all into a large file through google docs or something that people can view to look at each server and anyone helping can adjust as it changes? Just an idea.
  10. Inbox me your skype name (If you have one) The excel file is already on Google docs :D
  11. Not the ones who can compete. Many might appreciate it because it gives them an opportunity to see if there's anyone undercutting them, giving them the opportunity to out-compete their competitors, make a spectacle of their price victory, and therefore earn moar sales.

As for the idea, it will take a lot of resources to pull this off effectively. I get the vibe from you that you believe because you've learned about Excel you're hyped up and think you can pull this off, but it will be very difficult to gather and organize all that data.

Whatever comes of this, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor. :)

  12. The data will need to be pulled off by native residences of each server (and for those with multiple residences, whichever is their main) and will most effectively be pulled off if shops are excluded if they sell one or two items as those are most likely just extras the person or people gather and want to be able to make a bit of rupees off of to buy other items or whatnot. It would also be easy if the shop owners themselves chipped in with current prices every time it changes with a hidden chart of every shop owner who gives such information and the current prices, allowing a few to know who sells cheapest but only for means of data.
