[SUGGESTION] EMC Shop Advertisements

  1. I was thinking that people could advertise their shop in chat with a server message. It would advertise their shop every 30 minutes or so for a full set amount of time. This of course would require Membership OR rupees. 1,000r for one hour maybe?
    Olaf_C and Hash98 like this.
  2. So you pay for an automated shop advertisement that appears like "Tips"?
  3. Seems like spam!
  4. Doesn't seem like the best idea to me. Could cause lots of spam and lag maybe. Someone earlier had said something about maybe having a bulletin board type place where you could advertise your shop and that sounded like a better idea.
  5. Suppose someone buys one... A minute later someone else does.
This goes on until it has happened 30 times in 30 minutes, then all we see is:
COME TO BLA BLA BLA SHOP
COME TO BLA BLA Shop 2
    And so on.
  6. Mabye it could be something like this:
    /advertise [shop name] [desc.]
    Example:
/advertise Jtc0999's awesome shop Low prices and high quality! Come now!
And you can only advertise every hour or so, and it costs 1k
  7. Saying something over and over again in chat is considered spam. Why would a server message make it ok?

  8. @Pab, it would say it every 30 minutes or an hour.
  9. No. Simply, no. The chat is mean't for talking, not hundreds of shop adverts.
    Adderwolf71 and RevampedMadness like this.
  10. That's 48 times too many for me. We have hundreds of shops on EMC and each one having an advertisement would create a constant stream of messages and isn't anything I'd like to see.

If someone asks a question in chat, it's appropriate to respond. If you are stocking something new or have restocked an item and think the other people in Town are interested, feel free to announce it. Once. Anything more than that, automated or not, is spam in my opinion.
  11. Exactly. A bulletin board at the town spawn or something where you could post things like "_____ has restocked on _____. Buy away!" or "_____'s shop has opened at 1111. Come here for everything you need!" That wouldn't bespam. But an advertisement on chat would be.
