Enchanting ruining the fun?

Should we do so it will be harder to get EXP, so enchanted items will be worth more?

  1. So there's a lot of people, who mostly AFK next to their spawners to get EXP then they go enchant, make packs of enchanted items and sell them. I'm really tired of this, because enchantments becomes to cheap, if you got a spawner, you can pretty much get as much EXP as you want, there's also another bad thing with it, as it's spawning mobs in your spawner, and in everyone else's, the mob cap will be reached, and it won't spawn mobs any other place, so it will be hard for everyone else to find mobs and kill them.

    I don't think this is how it should be, enchanted items should be worth more, so I really think something should be done, for an example; add the auto-afk-kick even if the server isn't full.

    1.3 will be the end of enchanted items being worth alot. Everyone will be selling enchanted items and while grinders will still be more effecient, it wont be the only source of mass experience anymore..

    But it really boils down to the fact that EMC is a vanilla-oriented server. We try to keep gameplay as natural as possible (within limits of having fun and respectable features), and grinders are a natural part of the game that we will not try to stop.

    As for mob limits, we have a solution coming soon for that that stops all mob cap issues.

    Plus, auto kick was not a good solution to stopping grinder usage as people know ways to bypass it.

    Just be patient... Very soon afk'ing at a spawner will result in a loss of effeciency, and everyone will not have to worry bout mob cap issues.

    Yes it sucks were losing items value, but this isnt something we can control, and mojang has made it even more so with 1.3 so time to move on from using enchanted items as a cash cow.

  4. Yep when 1.3 comes around I am not even going to enchant anything as the enchanted item will be worthless as you can only enchant to level 30.
  5. I forgot 1.3 :S The thing I don't really like with that update is that it comes out the first of august, I'm going for vacation on the second :mad:

  6. I don't see anything wrong with members doing package deals. I prolly still be using my grinder because of mob drop items I get "unlimited smelting basically" :) and yes I see 1.3 level is moved down to 30 and package deals will become the norm
  7. Especially because enchantments will be dirt cheap Package Deals will become the norm. Imagine only having to get to lv 20 every time to get a trip enchant. I say 20 not 30 because the xp needed for the next level is not cumulative like it is now. Lv 1-20 will take about the same for each lv.

  8. Yea gotcha. Only time I grind nowadays is when I'm on a builders block at LLO or doing some other stuff on my computer
  9. Ouh, seeecrets. Secrets, secrets...are no fun. Secrets, secrets...hurt someone!

    This has bothered me for a while as well. But, as aikar mentioned, with 1.3 coming in August there will be a lot added to the game. I love digging long 3x3 tunnels, and I'm going to have some fun going through all of them and collecting all the redstone and lapis that I left there! Now there's a use for it!
