  1. But if we are strictly talking economics. You are giving your buyers to much power and your sellers not enough.

One of the most important factors in real world economics is that all resources or finite. That is not the case in MC. All resources are infinite. This fact alone gives a huge upper hand to the buyers. You are limiting the wrong side of the equation.

  2. I beg to differ. Even though resources like Diamonds can be found, they are unrenewible. Eventualy, even though in a very, very, VERY long time, There will be no more diamonds. The minecraft map is NOT infinately large.
  3. The minecraft map is infinite. So, you are wrong. Also remember there are resets. Resets do not reset the already gathered resources - just make it easier to get new.
  4. If we were to make a punishment to buyers, we would do the same to the chest shops. The point of this isn't to make it WORSE or BETTER than chest shops, but to make it co-exist.
  5. This is true. However, since the distance will be farther, it will be harder to get diamonds, making them expensive. Also, they reset the wild as well. So that aint a big issue. So, you pretty much have unlimted everything, execpt for unique blocks, such as Ender Dragon eggs, End Portal Frames, ect.
  6. I'd also like to point out this will put an end to the issue of not being able to sell "Enchantment 3" items in a shop setting. The chest shops limit characters which make it impossible to do based on how MC reads enchantment codes. However, with the order system, this is no issue at all.
  7. I never thought of that. Props.
  8. Right,

I hope you get that I'm not really against the new system itself but what it will do to the current economy. The point, I guess I am trying to make, is that before there was a natural limitation to buyers in that they had to locate, shop around, go and get their stuff where it was at. It wasn't at their fingertips.

If you guys want to make these systems even - you are a really really far way off. The new system does not limit the buyer in any way. While the shop system still does limit the buyer. Although, if you add a database for current shops (although I don't see it mattering if items can just be delivered into their laps the other way) you are still taking away important limitations.

Think about this from a customers standpoint. Old Way: I'm a shopper. I have to find a shop that sells what I am looking for - I have to make sure I'm not paying to much for it - I have to go there and finally pick up my products.

OR New Way: I'm a shopper. I type a command - see the lowest price - I hit a button to buy it - it falls on my head.

Which are people going to use? I can not believe you honestly think anyone will use the first way. So you are either misleading yourselves - or you are misleading the community that you are trying to make these compromises when in reality you just want to make the new shiny thing shiny. ICC - I believe you fall into the first category - I do not believe that is true of all of your staff. Although Aikar isn't misleading anyone he is coming out and saying he does not want to bring down his project despite what the community says. I respect that honesty.

I've lost my train of thought...

Economy. You have a huge imbalance here. It will cause problems. Gosh, I hope you can see this.
  9. I respect all the thought put into this, but as someone who loves playing the economy in games, I see it completely the opposite way. There isn't necessarily going to be infinite items in the market place. One might come on looking for a ton of cobble and nobody will have cobble in the market and they will still be forced to go to stores. The opposite might happen as well. Store might be out of stock but market might have it. It will balance itself out. There really is nothing in the new system that will break the economy. It's not that complex, haha.

  10. Ok. I give up. So, my last thoughts -

I don't play the economy in games. I am a business major. I really just want to point out what I see wrong in this picture and hope that it might stop a few problems before they occur. What I really want to stress is that MC is not other games. There is no other game out there that works like MC in mechanics. You can not take other games economy models and plug them in here. It just will not work.

I wish you guys the best in your project. As much as I doubt it, I really hope it turns out as you say.
  11. I think a lot of very important points are being lost in all the TL;DR.

    So I'll just make 2.

    1. The vast majority of players - especially long-term players - do not want it. As shown in this thread.

    2. If you (mods, staff) are ignoring that, and saying that's just because "we fear change", and you'll do it regardless, then please at least TEST it, on a small scale, to see if it causes as many problems as some of us think it will.
  12. Well, either way, we always have the power to tweak things once in place should something go 'horribly wrong'. I don't see that as happening at all, but the option is there and we can always make sure things are going smoothly. :)

However, I wouldn't call a few mall shop owners the "vast majority". I'm playing in the middle here. Obviously, Aikar is more for his system and the mall owners in this thread are more for shops. I've brought both side to a middle ground so far. Quite a few of the original "anti-system" people have now agreed this is a good idea. We won't EVER be able to 100% make EVERYONE happy, and we accept that.
  13. IceCreamCow, thats cause you deleted the vast majority of our posts. :p
  14. I only deleted ones that didn't add any constructive conversation to the thread. I deleted both comments that were FOR and AGAINST it.

  15. You realize I was just messing with you, right? Indicated by the little :p face.
  16. I know...but have you seen how hostile some people have been. I had to make it clear for them. xD
  17. I think its a good idea. For one than i can see whos selling eggs cheaper than me and top them.

  18. The way i see it, Rupees are worthless. If it were a real Economy there would be a certain number of rupees in circulation. Because the more you have of something the less it's worth and if every player has an infinite amount of rupees then they are of no great value to anyone.
  19. I love you! Sorry Aikar, I need a RuneScape buddy! :p
